Thursday morning I woke up and went to the gym to get in a workout before the festivities began. I’m very thankful that Michael was such a good sport and didn’t complain or make me feel guilty for going to the gym. He hopped on his bike trainer while I was gone, too.
Surprisingly the gym was a bit crowded. Not too crowded that I couldn’t get in a good workout, but I was surprised there were so many people with the same plan as me. ๐ I started out on the treadmill and moved to weights. I didn’t really have a focused workout. I felt overwhelmed with all the things I needed to do before our guests arrived so I just did what I could in the hour and a half limit I set for myself. There was a new Ab machine at the gym that I tried.
I even used the Stair-master. I hadn’t been on the stair-master in many, many months (IT Band injury). I only did 6 minutes on the stair-master to see how I felt and if it caused any pain.
It was a good workout and I burned a lot of calories–which lessened any guilt I might have for overindulging.
727 calories burned! Woot! That takes care of the wine I’d be drinking Thanksgiving day…. ๐
I had the exercise down…So how did I do food wise?
- Four glasses of wine (or so)
- One plate with everything for dinner. I may have eaten more than 1 serving of the Thanksgiving items, but I didn’t get seconds of that plate!
- I ate 1 small piece of pumpkin pie with lite whipped topping
- I ate 1 small piece of apple pie
I think Michael and I went to bed at 9:30 on Thanksgiving and we didn’t get out of bed on Friday until 11am. It was blissful! And so needed! I’ve never slept so great. Friday I went to the gym and swam (350 calories burned) then Michael and I went to Five Guys for lunch.
I got the “Little Cheeseburger” and no fries with a diet coke = 550 calories. It was delicious and really hit the spot–especially since neither of us wanted to cook anything. I skipped the Black Friday festivities. Trying to battle the mall just didn’t sound like fun. Michael and I then spent pretty much the remainder of the long weekend watching movies. We were reclusive and I only left the house to go to the gym. ๐
Saturday I slept in a bit and then went to the gym. I had a great workout:
And Sunday I went swimming as well. I can successfully say that I maintained my normal exercise routine throughout the holiday. I can’t speculate if I gained because I did indulge in more food than I normally do, but I don’t think I went over board with anything. I don’t feel guilty at all for that over-indulging. Now I just need to remind myself of that when I weigh-in in a few weeks and NOT beat myself up.
QUESTION: What was your Thanksgiving report card? Did you stay on track for the most part?

It wasn’t Thanksgiving in Canada so no problems with eating over hear. Though I was immensely jealous looking at all the DELICIOUS thanksgiving food popping up on blogs in my reader ๐

I did okay. I ate more than I should have but much less than in years past. So in that respect, I’d say it was successful. AND I was back in the gym both yesterday morning and today. All in all, I’d give myself a B.

Mine was much like yours….but without any visits to the gym and a lot less sleep. ๐
I’m starting WW on Thursday which has lead to a little “last chance” indulgence but I can deal with that. It’s actually a good motivator for me.
Here’s to 2011!

I was pretty pleased about how I did on Tday. I ran for 5 miles in the morning and avoided a lot of premeal snacking. I did not get overly full, which was a big goal of mine. I could have eaten a lot more, but I didn’t.
I need to make sure I concentrate hard now up to Christmas since it really is holiday time now!
