What does a nerd stock up on with the threat of being snowed in for days?
Books! On the way home from work yesterday I stopped by the library to pick up some books, just in case. 😉
Michael was still under the weather so I made dinner for myself instead of the new salmon recipe I had planned for us.
Confession: last night’s dinner was essentially the exact same dinner I made myself on Sunday night. 😛
Since I was on my own for food I made something easy: Boca Burgers. In order to jazz up the boring and undelicious Boca Burgers, I added jalapeno peppers to the top and melted cheese on top.
It makes it much more palatable.
I used light mayo, honey mustard, some sweet relish and butter lettuce.
As my side dish I steamed some Trader Joe’s frozen edamame.
It was a good addition to the burger (much better than chips or fries).
Michael and I decided that once the Boca Burgers are all gone from the freezer we won’t buy any more. I hear the black bean burgers at Costco are really good, so I want to try those instead.
There was unusual sighting over the weekend in our house.

Maya! Yes, I have two cats. Maya is always hiding and only comes out when she wants to play with Fat Kitty.

It was very strange to see Maya out in the open. She also came into the living room and was playing with some kitty balls that rattle. She batted it around in the hallway, chased it and did acrobatics jumping over the moving ball!
MEOW!!!
I tried to film her playing with my phone but she seemed to sense I was being sneaky and she decided she had enough play time. 🙁 Silly cats!

I woke up at 12:30 last night and poked my head out the window to see if there was snow, but not much. 🙁 So the Snowmaggedon seemed to pass us by and I had to go to work this morning!
It looks like our neighbors up north in Seattle have been hit pretty hard with the snow. According to the forecast it’s going to skip Portland. Boo.
QUESTION: What is your favorite thing about winter?

My favorite thing about winter is the fireplace. Hands down. I love campfires in the summer, but the lit fireplace in the winter is my favorite.

I LOVE the snow actually 🙂 I just hate the cold.
I really like hibernating in the winter. Not feeling like I have to be going-going-going, soaking up the outdoors etc. I just like to relax, stay in and not feel bad about it!

I think my fav thing about winter is being able to convince the fiance that soup for dinner like 4-5 nights of the week isn’t a bad thing haha!

I’m in Vancouver and we didn’t have a snow day either! There was only a little snow. 🙁 All the school districts around us either had 2 hour late start or no school.
My favorite things about winter… Christmas (presents!), lots of food, the smell of Christmas trees, and shopping.

I love the smell of Christmas trees…I am hoping we get one this year. I haven’t had one in years because of the cats. I think it’s time. 🙂

This winter I am looking forward to trying to make some good soups or chili in our crockpot on a nice snowy weekend. I am sure we will have plenty to choose from shortly!

What’s my favorite thing about winter? To be at home and snuggle up with my soft blankets. When it is winter, I have soft blankets everywhere in my homs, so wherever me or my family members sit/lay, there is some blankets to cuddle with.
