Sunday was a lazy one for me. I did go swimming, though. I felt lethargic for the beginning of my swim but got renewed energy toward the end of my workout. I decided to try some intervals. I swam a few laps as fast as I could, then went back to swimming my normal pace. It was nice way to switch up my routine and I’m going to keep trying intervals. With swimming, distance was always my focus. I wanted to be able to swim a significant distance without tiring. I think now that I’ve achieved that, it’s time to switch focus.
I was craving pizza yesterday so I made Michael’s dream come true and suggested we get a pizza for dinner. 😉
We went to Papa Murphy’s and got the Meat deLite this time. It comes with pepperoni, sausage and ground beef. I asked them to leave off the ground beef and add red onions instead. They agreed and when we got home I added sliced black olives (and Michael added mushrooms to his side).
While we were out, we picked up some seasonal beer.
I love seasonal beers! And there are so many to choose from. Oregon is an awesome state to live in if you enjoy beer. We settled on a Sierra Nevada Seasonal.
I have to admit, my pizza creation was absolutely delicious! And since it was a deLite Pizza, one slice was around 190 calories. I ate three slices and they were perfection.
Since it was a deLite, I didn’t feel guilty for indulging, either.
When I was at the store earlier that day I impulsed bought some eggnog (low-fat at least).
My original plan was to imbibe with the eggnog but a cold beer sounded much better with pizza.
Dinner really hit the spot. I’d been craving ice cream for a week and REALLY wished I’d had some Saturday night…
I really wanted to try the fudge sauce on top of some ice cream–this time melted. So I gave into another craving and had some vanilla ice cream (120 calories) topped with the oozing chocolate sauce (45 calories).
It was delish! The chocolate fudge was chewy (which I loved) and was thick. I am officially in love with this fudge sauce!
QUESTION: What are your favorite pizza toppings? What are the weirdest combos you’ve tried?
Becca
I’m ashamed to say that my favourite pizza has to be Dominos. I get the most incredible create-your-own with chorizo and sundried tomato sauce. So wrong, but so delish!
I don’t like strange combos, but I did have a fruits de mer pizza once. I was about 9 years old, and quite a fan of seafood, but the whole baby octopuses were too much for me. Blech!

I wish we had that deLite pizza around here! I love making pizza at home though so I can top it how I want. Recently I tried an egg on my pizza and it was AWESOME, but weird, too. 🙂

Soooo glad you love the fudge sauce. I’m so glad I can keep it in my fridge and not have to mow to the bottom of it. A little goes a long way, dotcha think?
We went to a beer fest this weekend (I was the DD) and Maritime had a special Jolly Roger Christmas Ale that had been aged in a rum-soaked barrel. It was soooo good (ok, I had a sip). I’m guessing you can probably get the regular Christmas Ale down there.
We like Dominos though we ghettoed it and had DiGiorno from the store the other night. You know I don’t eat clams so the first time I heard about them on a pizza I was like Wha?
Best pizza: LA, Damiano’s, Garlic shrimp with pesto crust. OMG so good!

I don’t know if I would be a fan of seafood on pizza. It just sounds…wrong! I did have shrimp pizza as a kid. Maybe that did me in?
The fudge is so rich I can’t have very much (which is good).
I think Portland has another beerfest coming up in December. I bet they have that beer you mentioned!

Pizza Schmizza has a new pie with shrimp on it. It looks pretty gross!
Lisa Eirene
That SOUNDS gross. Ick.

One of my fav pizza toppings is tandoori chicken with coriander and yoghurt! oh and mango chutney 🙂
Lisa Eirene
Did you create that yourself or have it at an Indian restaurant?
Coco
I won’t lie, I have been known to enjoy a slice of pepperoni pizza from Domino’s.
What I love with less guilt is a spinach, mushroom and goat cheese pizza from Rustico that I get on their gluten-free chickpea-based crust.
Ages ago Sam Adams used to make a Cranberry Labmic beer. For a few years you could buy it on its own, then only as one of its Winter combination pack, but I haven’t seen it in ages.
You mgiht enjoy my “Novembeer” post:

I’m always on board with goat cheese!

if you cut the egg nogg with some milk it still tastes like egg nogg but you’re not drinking quite as much sugar (egg nogg on it’s own is too thick and sweet for me… i like it cut down)
hot lips makes a pizza with potato and bacon that my husband ADORES
Lisa Eirene
That’s a great trick! I forgot about the milk.

my weird was SO WEIRD back in the day (pineapple) and now alas is normal 🙂
Lisa Eirene
I love pineapple on my pizza!
The Boyfriend
That pizza was great!
