I had Thursday off from work–which was perfect timing because I was battling a full-fledged cold. Yuck. 🙁 Fat Kitty loves it when I stay home from work. He becomes my shadow and follows me around the house. I slept in, cuddling with this cute monster:
It was short lived. The Other Cat started crying. She doesn’t want to be petted, she just wants to cry. SIGH. Alright, I’ll get up. My day was pretty productive. I cleaned the house, did laundry, went swimming, ran errands. I stopped by the house to shuffle the laundry and eat a salad and the other half of my blackened salmon for lunch. Then back out to run errands. Why is that days off end up being days spent running errands? Oh well…
When Michael got home he said he was in a bad mood and wanted comfort food. Ham and Grilled Cheese it is!
I went to the store to get some comfort food to cheer him up. I’m such a good girlfriend. 😉 I got his favorites:
Tortilla chips and Coca Cola (not for me). And ice cream.
There were two winners too! I’m glad Michael won some money on the scratch-its after a bad day at work. I also picked up a loaf of Dave’s Killer Bread for dinner.
I made the grilled and ham cheese sandwiches (using less ham on mine–slicing one piece in half instead of using 1.5 slices like on Michael’s).
They were the perfect comfort food items.
I ate half a pickle and a serving of tortilla chips with my sandwich. It tasted like A Better Mood, for sure.
I also indulged and ate one of the ice creams. They are tricky because while they are small–it’s really 2 servings not one. I still ate the whole thing. 🙁 BURP. 🙁 Oh well….If you’re gonna be bad, be REALLY bad….
I added one spoonful of chocolate fudge to the top!
Yes, it was the magical chocolate fudge from Carbzilla! And it was absolutely amazing. I did not heat it up and just got one spoonful from the jar. I just wanted to give it a try. 😉
It was absolutely divine. I will try it heated up next time. The best part? It was only 45 calories!
QUESTION: What’s your comfort food of choice?
Michele @ Healthy Cultivations
Comfort Food: probably mac and cheese
Comfort Dessert: brownies
Lori (Finding Radiance)
Fat kitty is so awesome! Is that really his name?
Comfort foods for me are carby things like toast and jam, oats , pie.
Lisa Eirene
No that’s not his real name. He is pretty cute! 😉
Christi
My Mama’s homemade mac & cheese for sure.
Dessert would have to be pineapple upside down cake that my Mama makes. Ok, pretty much anything my Mama cooks is comforting 🙂
Your Fat Kitty looks a lot like my cat, whose name just happens to be Cat. Cat loves me, and wants to be near me or on me always!
Christi
Ok had to include this. Since I was wrote out that comment, I was thinking about the fact that I call my 5 year old Catherynn, Cat (or Kitty) most of the time.
Lisa Eirene
Aw that’s pretty cute!
Becca
Ooh, anything with cheese and bread. I’m hankering after your ham and cheese toastie right now!
Thetreadmilldiaries
It was nice of you to take care of your guy like that when he had such a bad day. 🙂
No question that when I need to be comforted it’s all about the pizza.
Lisa Eirene
Usually I’m with you–pizza!!!!!!!!!
Merinda
Mac and cheese is a big one for me.
I had a really bad day today and split an applebees triple chocolate brownie and icea cream thing today. I don’t want to know how many points that was.
Lisa Eirene
But you split it! That’s great!!
Carbzilla
The fudge is awesome on a spoon, but really great heated up. Chris asked me what else you could do with it and I suppose spread on a bar cookie would work too. If we were into that sorta thing.
Man I love grilled ham and cheese!
Lisa Eirene
I would definitely be into that sort of thing. 😉
Karen
For me right now, there is something about bread. Something about the texture. I just want to sink my teeth in. I guess that fits the “comfort food” bill for me.
blackhuff
If I want comfort food it must be something with cheese. I usually also opt for a toasted sandwich with just cheese or like you and your partner with ham.
Lisa @ I'm an Okie
aw I love getting lotto tickets! So fun!
