Today would have been the perfect day for a run. Too bad I didn’t run at lunch!
I was fully expecting to be sore today after two bike rides this weekend! I woke up this morning feeling okay. I checked the weather report and it stated rain all day. Because of that, I left my run stuff at home today. I decided today would be a good rest day for me. Now I wish I could have gone for a run. The weather was perfect. I went for a long walk and did not need my jacket, and wished that I had been wearing a t-shirt.
I walked up Salmon Street to Washington Park. It was so gorgeous out! I saw several runners too, which impresses me because the hill is so steep.
I got a really good walk in during my lunch hour. Check out this gorgeous house I walked by.
I’m happy with my walk today. I got outside and enjoyed the weather.
It also gave me some time to think about Reach The Beach. My fitness level is pretty high. I’m not sore from the bike rides this weekend–or from that killer hill on Saturday. My recovery time has sped up as well. I know that I could ride for several hours without getting tired. My concern? Being saddle sore and also having lower back pain, neck/shoulder pain, and wrist pain (I have tendinitis in my wrist) from the long ride. I’m not sure yet how to remedy these things.
Lastly, check out Slowly but Surely blog at http://slowlybutsurely2010.blogspot.com/. She just ran her first half marathon and did great! 🙂
QUESTION: Do you plan your workouts for the week in advance?
Slowly But Surely
Thanks so much for the shout-out! 🙂
I’m impressed that people were running up that hill too – I used to live right by there, and that is one steep hill!!!

No problem! Yeah, I have yet to run that hill. I’m pretty intimidated but I’d like to try soon. 🙂

What a lovely house, and lovely views for your walk! I am not good about planning my workouts ahead of time. The second I feel like I “have” to workout, I immediately start to resist it. So, I just do the best I can every day to do something active.

That makes sense to me. I don’t want to feel like I “have” to do something but I also know if I don’t schedule it, I won’t do it!

I try to plan my workouts out, but I also try to be flexible. I tend to be a perfectionist and am trying to be more a “go with the flow” sort of gal.

I’m trying to be more flexible too. Switching to lunchtime runs has freed up a few evenings– which is nice!

Beautiful walk too – yep, I plan my workouts, otherwise they never seem to happen!

Thanks!
I have the same problem. Best to keep it scheduled! -Lisa

walking is so great! i do alot of it 🙂 glad you were not sore from all the rides this weekend. that means you are getting strong! i make a loose plan for my week. sometimes work is already stressful enough an i do not want to add too much more stress like workouts to my schedule.

Yes, my recovery time seems to be improving. Walking is such a great activity!

I have a sort of idea in my head of how I want the week to play out. I do tend to play things by ear though because it might be raining, or I might be tired, or any number of things. I try to keep the “big picture” in mind and try to not get too frustrated if workout things don’t go as planned.
