Yesterday I stayed home sick. I watched some Netflix videos, then got sucked into hours of last season’s Grey’s Anatomy. Michael decided I needed to get outside in the land of the living for a bit so he took me out to lunch near his office.
Comfort food! Grilled cheese: cheddar, Fontina and tomatoes. Just what I needed.
It came with a Caesar salad, that was delicious, and it was loaded with garlic. Garlic was just what my sore throat needed.
It was nice to get out of the house and eat something other than soup. Back home I got on the couch and watched DVR shows. You know it’s weird because I spent many years on my couch doing nothing, watching movies and TV, wasting my weekends…Now that my life is different it is so hard for me to spend my time that way (even sick).
Fat Kitty joined me on the couch and snored.
I got progressively sicker as the night went on. Lame. I am so over this sickness! It’s really putting a cramp in my life. When Michael got home, he made dinner for us. He defrosted some frozen shrimp:
I was craving shrimp tacos so that’s what he made. Since I was on the couch I’m not sure what exactly he did to everything. He cooked the shrimp in the skillet while the Spanish Rice was cooking.
Just add a can of diced tomatoes to the box and it’s delicious (and fast).
Michael made guacamole too. Yes, more garlic!
Since I was on the couch I couldn’t sample the guacamole before dinner (probably a good thing).
The tacos were fantastic. I ate two of them.
Inside each taco: shrimp, guacamole, sour cream, chopped green onions, chopped olives, shredded lettuce with lime juice, and rice.
I definitely want to eat these again. In fact, if there’s leftovers I will probably eat them for lunch!
QUESTION: Do you have a hard time resting when you’re sick? Do you go stir crazy?
Rhianna
oooh… Those tacos look so delicious! I’ve never tried a shrimp taco, will have to sometime. I do have a hard time resting when I’m sick when my toddlers are around! But otherwise, no, I don’t. I try to sleep it off or just watch movies/TV and relax. That’s really the only time I can. My husband hogs the remote and we don’t enjoy the same shows!

I really have a tough time relaxing when I really need to. I fidget and get bored very quickly. Usually I just keep going until I am so sick I can’t possibly go anymore 🙁 But I am hoping you fell better soon.
Lisa
Oh no – hope you feel better soon xx

Hey Lisa, Sorry to hear you’re sick. Hope you’re getting better soon. Sending you some warm Florida sun.
If I’m really sick, especially if I have a fiever, all I want to do is sleep and rest. That’s OK for 2 or 3 days. When I can think about food, I’m getting better. Last fall I was sick for over a week, and that was really getting on my nerves too.
Enjoy your leftovers and get better,
Maya

Yep I am starting to think about food! I am definitely on the mend.
