Last night at the gym I started my workout with the Return to Running Plan so I could try to participate in the Twitter #fitblog chat. It’d been a few weeks since I was able to participate and I missed chatting with everyone! There were a lot of good questions in last night’s chat. Here’s one:
QUESTION: What is happiness to you?
It proved to be more difficult than I thought to participate while on a treadmill but I did my best. During the “walk” portion I would type or catch up on tweets, then I’d jog. Needless to say, it took me longer to complete the 1.5 miles. π
Actually it took a lot longer than last time.
After the walk/jog for 1.5 mile, I began lifting weights.
I quickly realized something surprising: THE WEIGHTS WERE TOO LIGHT! Every machine I did (that I normally do) was too EASY! Could it be that I had broken through another plateau?
I was pretty excited. I increased the weight on almost every machine I use and had a fantastic workout. There was one triceps machine that I did not increase the weight with. That’s definitely an area of my body I still struggle with.
After the weight lifting, I worked on my core and strengthened my hips:
I have three hip and IT Band strengthening exercises I do. I see some progress since starting them three weeks ago. I don’t shake as much, but I’m not quite strong on my right side either. I hope that continues to improve.
I ran into an old coworker at the gym. She said she was taking the Turbo Kickboxing class and said I should join her. Since my workout was over I said maybe next week. Now that I’ll know someone in the class that might push me to do it!
Gym Stats:
Time: 1:30
Calories Burned: 601
Routine: Treadmill, weights, core, stretching, strengthening
I accidentally reset my watch before I could take a picture of my workout stats so I had to look in the “Diary.” Luckily it was the first workout of the week.
I got home and immediately drank my Glutamine muscle recovery drink.
I liked the orange flavor better.
I used my foam roller and then fixed leftovers for dinner. I reheated the last of the brown rice, steamed some veggies, and reheated the leftover burger patties from my magazine dinner.
I used Goddess Dressing on the veggies.
Reheated burger patties do not turn out very well. I didn’t eat much of them. Oh well. I had one scoop of ice cream for dessert.
And I played with Jeremy’s iPad for a bit. I’d never seen one before so it was cool to see.
It was a good night, a good workout, and I had time to watch a few episodes of Grey’s Anatomy before heading to bed.
QUESTION: Do you have an iPad? Did you participate in the #fitblog chat?
Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin
I don’t have an ipad but a friend of mine does and I LOVE playing around with it! I haven’t made it in a #fitblog chat in far too long. Gotta fix that!

Chris finally broke down and bought an IPad last week. (We still think it should have been called ISlate for a variety of reasons, but whatever). That’s why he was so bummed there was no wifi when we went “camping” because he hadn’t preloaded movies. I haven’t played on it much, but it seems cool. Like we need more electronics around here.
I was on fitblog once I could remember where to find it! Thanks for your help! It’s always so inspiring!
Good for you for breaking your weight lifting plateau!

After playing with the iPad for a few minutes I wasn’t really impressed. It would be ideal for long commutes and watching movies on Netflix but it’s big and bulky.
Ayla
I’m too Twitter challenged to participate in #fitblog chat… I actually don’t even really know what it is! Haha. I’ve just seen it mentioned around the blog world.
I’ve never seen an Ipad but they sound fun. I’m guessing it’s similar to an Iphone but bigger and.. not a phone?
Lisa Eirene
It was just like my iPhone but bigger. π

I’m so happy to hear that you have broken through your plateau. That is wonderful news.
