Monday night after work I headed to the gym to do my weight lifting routine. I also have another motive: Canceling my appointment with Ding-Bat Trainer. I was fully prepared to let her know that we weren’t a good fit and I no longer wanted to be contacted.
Guess what? Yet again no one was at the Personal Training counter so I couldn’t. I didn’t want to be passive aggressive and just not show up. That’s rude.
The good news: Tuesday morning I got a text message from said Ding Bat.
My workout Monday night was okay. I’m happy to report that I don’t need as many days in between my weight training sessions anymore. I wasn’t sore from Saturday’s session and Monday’s went well.
I focused on the upper body but this time I did more with my legs. I’m determined to keep my legs strong while I heal. I used the ITB machine that strengthens the inside of the thighs, and I also used the Leg Press (at a very light weight).
I haven’t seen any changes in my arms quite yet but I have seen some changes around my waist. The sides of my abdomen have less to pinch. Progress!
I made my way to the other section of the gym and focused on core work.
2 minutes of vigorous rowing then
1 minute of the Russian Twist then
1 minute of Crunches with the half ab ball
Repeat.
It was a hot, sweaty routine and it felt good.
My abs were burning! When I was done, I did my stretching and then went home to eat dinner.

The second I got home, I had a small glass of chocolate milk as a recovery drink from the workout. I MUST be better about eating something within 15 minutes of a workout. It’s essential for healing muscles.
Dinner was from the freezer this time: Turkey Burgers.
Michael said he’s really happy with the progress we’re making eating things from the pantry and freezer. I am too!
A simple burger with Light Mayo, Honey Mustard, Colby Jack cheese and lettuce on a Sandwich Thin.
Seasoned fries baked in the oven as a side. Delicious! We also had the last of our fancy bottle of wine.
Perfect dinner after a good workout!
QUESTION: What is your favorite item in your freezer that you’re always stocked up on?
Lori (Finding Radiance)
Have you done the plank for your core? That is killer!
I always have frozen Wyman’s blueberries and baby broccoli florets in the freezer. Always and forever amen.
Lisa Eirene
Good call on the blueberries. I’ve tried the plank and HOLY MOLY is it hard!
Lisa
Glad to hear that there was no awkward confrontation required – although can you speak to her manager or something and explain why you wont be going back? It sure was a ‘horror’ PT session!
Lisa Eirene
I keep trying to see if the manager is in but it’s a pretty poorly run place.
Ashley
Ahhh I totally love toothpastefordinner.com!
You’re seeing a change in your abs already?! How long have you been at this? Will you come train me?!
Lisa Eirene
I’m seeing small changes but nothing big yet. I’ve been doing it for about a month now.
Rachel
I keep Costco artichokes in the house at all times. I use them to make anything just a little more awesome. It’s my guilty pleasure. 😀
Lisa Eirene
What do you use the artichokes for? I love artichokes and could use ideas!
Emily
I hate the freezer. Truly. I don’t like thawing anything. I’m lazy. If it can’t go from freezer to pan or oven, I don’t do it. My freezer right now is stocked with frozen broccoli and low carb ice cream, that’s about it!
Irene
I always have frozen peas onhand and add them to practically anything. I toss them in with the pasta just before it’s done, add them to my brown rice, soup or stew. When I’m absolutely FAMISHED I’ll nuke a bowl of peas and gobble them up so that I can settle the hunger monster and make a better decision about what to eat for dinner.
I want to know what to do with the artichokes too! I have half a can in my fridge that I need to use ASAP.
Lisa Eirene
A snack before dinner is a good idea!
