I wish I had started taking measurements at the beginning of my weight loss journey SO bad because I would love to see the differences. I do like to see the number on the scale go down but I definitely focus on elements of my fitness – like the fact that I just ran my first half marathon – 13.1 miles – straight! I am still considered overweight too which I think is pretty ridiculous given my level of fitness, but I do want to be in a healthy weight range eventually.

I wish I took measurements in the beginning too!!!

Congratulations on your Half! I think you are awesome for doing it.

I don’t even think about size and weight. Well, I try not to. First off, I’ve ALWAYS weighed more then I look. Maybe I really am heavy-boned? I don’t know, but I have always weighed a good 10 pounds more then what I look like I weigh. Which is fine.

Also, sizes? They are SO messed up. I have everything from a size 6 to a size 12 hanging in my closet and in my drawers!

I TOTALLY agree, numbers mean nothing when it comes to fitness and strength!!

I do too. Depending on what store/brand I buy, I wear three different sizes.

Lisa, I just finished a challenge called the No Numbers Challenge. A group of bloggers realized we were all too obsessed with the scale, so we set out on this challenge to not step on a scale for 30 days. The challenge began on Aug 20th and just ended yesterday, Sept 20th. I learned a lot, I think we all did. I blogged the whole way through about the experince. I just posted my results blog this morning. The scale is just a number, its about how you feel!

Thanks for the info. I only weigh myself once a month because once upon a time I got a bit obsessed with the scale.

I also wish I’d taken measurements but I guess it’s not too late (I do have the tape).

Right now I’m happy at “under a certain number,” but I know that I have to time to ramp it up right now and should take advantage of that. Autumn is a hard transition time so I feel like I’d better JUMP on it to keep the momentum going for when we get to (eek) winter.

I have to say I’m kinda loving my Hydrofit class and today I was actually sore from it!

I did not mean to post that twice! Sorry! You can delete the extra one.

And thanks for stopping by my blog! I am thankful I have over come my scale obsession, but I still have a long ways to go.

I agree that measuring in fitness can give you a different perspective. I have been on a plateu for weeks now and yesterday I was beating myself up for it. But I stopped myself and though “On Monday I ran 4 and a half minutes without stopping. I didn’t feel like I would die. Me! I did that”. It really helps to get things back on track!

Great job on the run! I remember when I was able to measure my success through “I ran 2 miles without having to walk!” or being able to hike without resting. All good feelings.

I am still obsessed with the # on the scale (don’t know if I will ever get past that). I get frustrated when I am the same or gained. With all that said, I am noticing a difference in my clothes so I know I am losing inched. I also still see my stomach being “fat” but when I look in the mirror wearing “tighter” clothes I see it is getting “stronger”. Overall I am happy with the weight I have lost and need to keep it up to lose those last few pounds!

I took measurements along the way, and I am glad I did because there were times when the scale did not move, but the tape measure did.

I struggle with whether to lose more weight. I certainly could easily lose 10 pounds according to charts, but I have to think about whether I am happy or not at my current weight. I am certainly happy with my fitness at this point.

I just started reading a book called “Training Weight” and it got me started thinking about trying to get more lean. Not sure if that is a good idea or not LOL!

Lean is okay. Fit is okay. Skinny…I’m rethinking that goal now.
