We got to escape to Eastern Oregon for a long weekend with my parents. We stayed at a time share in Sunriver and had the best time! Michael and I have stayed in Sunriver a few times but always in the winter! It was so nice to go in nicer weather and be able to enjoy all of the trails!
It was kind of a great time of year to go. The busy summer season was over, the crowds were gone, no lines. It was pretty quiet and peaceful. I went swimming every day in the outdoor pool and had the pool all to myself!
The weather was pretty nice. It was definitely Fall weather! But Saturday was in the low 70s, Sunday was the mid-60s. And it was dry. The mornings were very cold (like between 38-42 degrees) and it looked like the coming week was going to bring rain, colder temps and maybe even snow! So we got to enjoy it just in the nick of time.
Sunriver is such a cool place. There are so many places to stay, condos, timeshares, rentals. Tons of event spaces, there’s a lot of cool swimming places and fun stuff for kids. My favorite is how walkable it is. There are miles of trails throughout.
The boys went golfing on Saturday afternoon, so that was nice. We pretty much spent the entire weekend going for walks and I went swimming! Heavenly! Lots of sleeping in, too.
We saw so many deer.
Sunday afternoon Michael and I went for a bike ride. It was fun! We biked around 5 or 6 miles all around the resort. We biked around the golf course, by the airport, the stables, The Village, and the residential areas.
Off in the distance it looked like there was going to be a thunderstorm but we got lucky. It was a little chilly and windy but didn’t rain on us. On the way back to the condo, we saw some deer. Two deer ran along side the trail next to my bike and then ran across the trail in front of me. It was pretty cool!
We got amazing pizza for dinner at Blondie’s (highly recommend). We got our growler filled at Sunriver Brewing (looked like a cool place to eat). And we got burgers at Big Belly Burgers and Brew.
I also ran into Jamie McLeod-Skinner at a Democrat conference at Sunriver. She’s running for Oregon’s Congressional District 5. I said hi. 😀
Logan, Michael and my dad played ping pong and pool. It was such a relaxing weekend!
We got lucky with nice weather and no rain. It was very cold in the mornings, but nice in the afternoons. The drive home was good–Zoey slept for a lot of it. We got lucky! I am so glad we got to go.
