Dang, Michael and I have been together for 15 years, married for 9! Looking back at old photos, gosh we were such babies! LOL
We got a dog together. We said goodbye to two kitties together. We got a new cat. We got married. We sold a house, bought a house. Had two kids. Survived a pandemic. We’ve traveled a ton together. We’ve seen some great bands. We biked some big events. We’ve gotten each other through various injuries and illnesses. Lots of ups and downs but a ton of fabulous memories.
For our anniversary this year my parents babysat the kids for a few days and we stayed at the McMenamin’s in Gearhart. We’ve never been to this one before. I’ve never actually been to Gearhart! It’s a quiet beach town, not much to do or see. It’s about 10 minutes north of Seaside and it’s about 20 minutes south of Astoria, so a nice location!
The nice thing about this McMenamin’s hotel is that every room had a bathroom! (Instead of European style like Edgefield.) The location was nice, about a 5 minute walk from the beach. There was a golf course and a little putting course.
We got there Saturday afternoon and went to the beach for a bit then had dinner and dessert.
We also finally got to watch Top Gun Maverick. With the kids and our busy schedule, we rarely get to watch a movie from start to finish so it was nice to relax and watch the movie! It was fantastic! So good!
Sunday we slept in a little and got breakfast in Astoria. Then we went to Fort Stevens and walked around. Fort Stevens is a historical site. It’s also a great place for camping! We used to go as kids. There’s a ton of bike trails. I remember it being so fun as a kid.
Also, there’s a shipwreck!
We got some good relaxing time in on Sunday, played a little putt putt golf, watched a movie, had happy hour, then went to Seaside for a bit. It was such a nice, relaxing time. Monday we got up to gray and drizzle. We drove home and back to reality. 🙂

Happy Anniversary!! I remember when I first started reading your blog, I read a current entry (at the time) and went back to read from the beginning. In the time it took me to read through the older entries, you and Michael had gotten engaged. I remember how I was hoping, as I got closer to real-time, that your relationship was headed that way and was very happy for you both. You two have been through a lot, but what a fabulous life you’ve made for yourselves and a beautiful family with your adorable children. Here’s to lots more love to come!
