The day after Zoey’s birthday party, Michael and I got to escape! I booked a surprise getaway as a Valentine’s gift for Michael. We didn’t want to go far since it was just for one night. I booked us a room at The Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, WA. (Not to be confused with The Heathman in downtown Portland.)
The hotel was really nice! It was about a 15 minute drive to the waterfront, not far from the Vancouver Mall. It didn’t have amazing views and was in kind of an industrial area with just a bunch of other hotels, but the hotel itself was really nice. Decent restaurant, really great pool.
Our first stop was lunch. We went to Stack 571 on the waterfront. It was a burger and whiskey bar. It was a really popular spot and the burgers were delicious! So were the parmesan truffle fries.
We did some flights and then walked around the waterfront a bit and then checked out the Mural Walk not far from the restaurant. There was some really cool art!
We walked around a lot and checked out Uptown Village and then checked in to the hotel and headed down to the hot tub! After an hour relaxing in the hot tub we napped a bit in our room before getting ready for dinner.
We were both still kind of full from the huge lunch so we decided to share dinner. We went to Pacific House, which was a cute spot. We split the BLT and salad and it was the right amount of food! Back at the hotel we shared a slice of key lime pie.
It was sooo nice to be able to sleep all night uninterrupted! And to (sort of) sleep in. We got up and I went for a swim (pool was nice and long so lap swimming was good) and Michael chilled in the hot tub and then we got breakfast at the hotel. I ordered the avocado toast with poached egg on top. It was tasty and once again we got to just relax and eat and not worry about kids! Too often (especially at the age that Zoey is) I have to eat in record time in order to tend to her. So it’s nice to be able to just enjoy food!
After checking out we went to Columbia Springs for a short nature walk before heading home to the kiddos.
I love all the wood carvings!
We didn’t do the whole trail because it was about to rain. But it would be a great spot for kids to “hike” and explore and you can feed the fish at the hatchery.
It was nice to be home. I am really looking forward to summer! We have a bunch of little getaways planned as a family and it will be nice to get a change of scenery after not doing much for 3 years!
