What a weekend!
It was busy but fun. First, I met up with my cousin for brunch on Saturday. It was so nice to get out of the house and go somewhere new. We went to Redwood in Montavilla. We sat outside on the patio and it was nice because it was slightly chilly out and not hot yet! I’d been craving a Bloody Mary since I was pregnant! And I was like, I will finally have it! (It’s only been a year…) But when I got there Anna ordered a drink that sounded too good to pass up. It was habanero vodka, pineapple juice and coconut liqueur, topped with basil.
It was so good. Kinda like a pina colada but spicy. 😀 I also got a hot chai tea. For food I ordered something that sounded fascinating and it turned out delicious. Braised collard greens with pimento cheese, cornbread and top with eggs.
It was really good! Then we walked around a nearby antique mall. Later I picked blackberries and then we took Logan to the park to play with his RC cars.
We took him to Stoneworks Gym in Beaverton. He is OBSESSED with the monkey bars at the playground, always, to the point that he has blisters on his hands (but still won’t stop). He likes climbing things. His favorite shows are Beastmasters and The Floor Is Lava. So we knew he’d think this was cool.
He was in absolute HEAVEN! We ended up staying for almost 2 hours and he climbed the entire time, no breaks, and it was hard to get him to leave.
It was $20 for the day pass, shoes and harness rental. We got a quick lesson. To start we did the climbing that was with the harness. For some reason he didn’t like that as much and seemed more scared of it. Which was weird, because it was the safer option for sure! He didn’t want to let go and fall. So then he tried the kid section for bouldering (no harness/rope). He climbed up to the top and climbed over and then ran across the platform to go back down the stairs. He did that a few times and then we explored the rest of the gym. He ended up spending most of the time doing the various walls. They were all different, with different levels of difficulty. He did SO good!
I was so impressed with his skill and determination. He didn’t want any help. Michael and I tried to give him some pointers and he kept saying “stop talking” LOL I think we created a monster and he’s going to want to do this every weekend.
We picked up Zoey and headed home and Logan fell asleep in the car. 🙂 It was a good weekend.
