I was trying to remember the last time we were in Bend, Oregon. The pandemic has blurred the lines for my memory! I know we didn’t go in 2019 because we were busy buying a house/selling a house/moving and then we went to Hawaii in January 2020. So I think the last time we were here was 2018! Logan was 2.5! It’s crazy seeing the old pictures of him. 😀
So we used to rent the same house whenever we came to Bend but it wasn’t available to rent anymore. 🙁 We found a new place and it was pretty good. 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, nice kitchen, hot tub and walking distance to a ton of restaurants, food trucks and bars.
The journey to GET to Bend was an experience. First, we started late because I had to get my MRI on my hip (took longer) and then driving was hard. 2 kids, a dog, a completely packed car, baby was fussy for most of it. The 3 hour drive took over 4 hours. But we made it.
We basically arrived in time to unpack and go to bed. Friday morning we got up early, had pancakes for breakfast, I had a few iced coffees on the deck, and then walked to a nearby park for Logan to play.
Then back to the house for a bit before heading out to another park (before it got too hot). It was 80 degrees by 10am but it was nice out and there was a refreshing breeze.
Lunch was tacos! It was a popular place and I can see why! Sooo delicious. Like seriously, my parents got to Bend before us on Thursday and got the tacos for dinner and raved about it and we got them for lunch. AMAZING.
We got the brisket tacos and pork tamales. Probably the best tamales I’ve ever had. Usually not a fan because they are kind of dry but these were juicy and flavorful. Seriously our new favorite Bend restaurant.
After lunch my dad and Michael went golfing and we hung out and relaxed. Zoey and I took a nap while my mom and Logan played Go Fish. Then we went to another park for a bit:
Dinner was pizza and beer (the easiest and quickest option for post-golf). Then sitting outside on the patio and enjoying the breeze and sun and summer air before hot tub time!
I seriously love Bend. I’d live here in a heartbeat if we could make it work. I love the high desert, I love the snow, I love the sun and summer, I love the outdoor activities–biking, running, hiking. It’s just so great! If you ever have a chance to visit Oregon, visit Bend!

Those look yummy! I just put El Sancho on my list for future visits. I went to Planker Sandwiches there once and they were SO good.

Definitely go!! Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll add it to my list for next time.
