Last month was our 7 year wedding anniversary! We decided to delay the celebration by a month. Logan starting school, Michael starting a new job…it just made sense. My parents came down Friday and picked Logan up from kindergarten and spent the weekend with him going hiking, going to the park, learning engineering, and watching (apparently) nature shows about anacondas. LOL
Michael and I hit the road for Seaside!
We checked into our hotel on the promenade. It was a partial view room, but we still had a great view. The ocean was slightly blocked by the sand dunes but we could still see and hear the ocean.
Dinner was at Nonni’s in downtown Seaside. Highly recommend! The food was SO good! They brought fresh bread with oil and vinegar and we started with the caprese tower (delicious).
Michael got an Italian sandwich and I got the polenta with a meatball. The food was really outstanding! If you are in Seaside, don’t miss this one.
Saturday morning we slept in and went to Firehouse Grill (next door to Nonni’s) for breakfast. It was ok. After that we decided to walk on the Promenade. I am not sure how long the Promenade is but it’s such a pleasure! Lots of walkers and bikers. It’s nice being able to walk along the beach. We walked the Prom and then turned around and headed the other direction to the downtown area.
We walked on the beach for a bit, then did some shopping and walked back to the hotel. We were going to go for a hike but decided to just walk on the Promenade and beach instead. It was the right choice!
The weather was perfect. Slightly sunny with some clouds, not too windy, about 60 degrees. It was so pleasant.
It was just past lunch time and neither of us were hungry so we headed back to the room to relax. That afternoon we watched an episode of the Great British Bake Off, took naps listening to the ocean and then headed to Cannon Beach.
Cannon Beach is popular and always crowded. We walked around a lot and did some shopping. Then we got an early dinner at Bill’s Tavern since we skipped lunch. We sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air and people watched.
I liked that they had a smaller menu option too. They had full sizes or the “light fair.” Since I wasn’t really hungry I got the small halibut fish and chips and it was SO GOOD! Absolutely delicious! Michael go the hummus plate.
After that we headed back to Seaside. We were both tired after walking over 5 miles. We had a chill night watching The Goonies (we were trying to figure out if Logan is old enough to watch it yet) and relaxed with the sliding doors open to listen to the ocean. So relaxing!
Sunday we slept in a bit and I went swimming in the hotel pool before we checked out.
We got breakfast at Bagels by the Sea:
We both got the bagels with scrambled eggs, Tillamook cheese and bacon. My bagel was focaccia, Michael’s was jalapeno cheese. It was tasty. Sunday was pouring rain at the coast. I was glad we got to enjoy Saturday rain-free! The drive home was easy and it was so nice to see Logan again after a weekend away. It was so nice to get away, too. Neither of us could remember if we did anything for our anniversary last year–and I don’t think we did because of covid!
I am looking into another mini-weekend for the three of us before the baby comes. I think Logan will like that a lot!

Happy Anniversary! Seaside looks like a gorgeous beach town. Your dinner really looked delicious. You take such great photos Lisa.

Thanks Marianne! The Oregon coast is really special

Congratulations and how fun!
The Goonies, if in doubt, don’t. My now 23 year old is still scared of that (fabulous) movie.
Lisa Eirene
Haha! There were only a few spots in the movie that we were like “nope” so we’ll wait a few years
