We got invited to the beach by Michael’s mom and happily accepted! They were going for a friend’s birthday party (that turned out to be a surprise wedding) and had rented a house near Oceanside.
We picked Logan up from kindergarten and then drove 2 hours to the coast. It was a nice day! Traffic wasn’t too terrible. The condo they rented from a friend was one we’d stayed at with them before. It’s nice and big with three bedrooms and a nice deck overlooking the bay at Netarts.
Since we got there kind of late, Michael and his mom picked up pizzas from Papa Murphy’s. It was a chill evening and then Saturday we woke up to sunshine and nice weather!
After breakfast Michael, Logan and I drove over to Cape Lookout. It was a really nice spot! It wasn’t far from where we were staying.
It looked like there was camping and yurt options, picnic areas and some hiking trails.
The beach was perfect. It was quiet, fairly secluded, not very busy. The weather was perfect. It was a little cool since it was the morning but the sun was out and it wasn’t windy at all.
Logan played in the sand. Bella ran like she’d been cooped up for years. We walked 2 miles on the beach.
Then we headed back to the condo for lunch and a break. I laid out in a lounge chair on the deck and dozed in the sun, listening to the seagulls. It was very nice and relaxing!
After that we decided to go for a hike. We drove up to Rockaway Beach, about 25 minute drive north. The hike we wanted to do was packed and there was no parking so we decided to just go to the beach.
There was some kind of event happening. Maybe a farmer’s market or something. It was pretty packed with people. We drove a little north and went to the beach up there and basically had the beach all to ourselves! It was SO nice! It was sunny and 65 degrees. Absolutely perfect weather. We walked another mile and then chilled out while Logan played in the sand. 🙂
Sunday morning we packed up. We were going to go for another hike nearby but it was a little rainy. We decided to head home instead. The drive was scenic with fall leaves and the highway right next to a river. We got to the Hillsboro and the weather turned sunny so we stopped at Noble Woods Park for a short hike.
It was a great spot! It was a partially paved trail in the woods with some creeks and bridges and other trails into the woods. It was a little over a mile. It was perfect for kids!
It was a nice break from the car. After our hike we headed home. It was a really good weekend. We got lucky with nice weather.

OMG!! Your beaches are gorgeous! Great photos. The beach looks so deserted though.
