Logan Second Trimester 1 , Part 2, Part 3
Week 14
Yay! Feeling a lot better. While this week as a whole has been rough in some ways, the morning sickness and nausea is *KNOCKONWOOD* gone? Fatigue is better. I feel like I have more energy and I feel super motivated to get stuff done. Over the weekend Michael and I tackled the kitchen purging, organizing, cleaning, trying to move things around better. I donated probably 25% of the stuff we don’t use anymore to my local Buy Nothing Group. Felt good!
In the not great news department – I was having some more bleeding this week. After several doctor appointments and the “official” ultrasound (I will have another one in about 6 weeks) at the imaging department, turns out I have a low placenta.
Apparently this is a fairly common thing and happens more in women over 35 who have been pregnant before. I’d never heard of it before. Supposedly it usually remedies itself as the baby grows and everything kind of shifts around. In the rare cases it doesn’t, it can become Placenta Previa. Which makes you high risk and mostly like have to have a C-Section. I have a few friends who had this condition. I am hoping things fix on it’s own. We’ll know about 6-8 weeks.
Week 15
Ultrasound results came back, confirmed low placenta, baby was good. And my due date changed! By 5 days! So I basically skipped 14 weeks lol.
Week 16
The nausea and fatigue have improved greatly. I am still having random bouts of heartburn. I imagine that is here to stay until the end.
I had to go take the gestational diabetes test. They wanted me to do it early this time (which I have LOTS of thoughts about–about body shaming and the whole nonsense of BMI) so I did it. It was the 1 hour test this time, not fasting, and my level came back at 97. I was supposed to be under 130 I think. So passed! With flying colors.
Not sure yet if I will have to repeat the test at 26-28 weeks or not.
Week 17
I’ve been slowly collecting stuff from my local Buy Nothing Group. I got a huge bag of baby girl clothes, a rocker, a travel bassinet, a box of brand new bottles, some burp cloths. I also saved a ton of stuff from Logan–crib, changing table, high chair, baby bath, clothes, toys, etc. We are in good shape!
Cravings: Dessert is often a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheat Cereal (Which I had not had in like 10 years or more!).
Week 18
Now that it’s been a bit since the bleeding stopped, I tried to get back into working out. I did a few prenatal barre workouts and I was sore FOR DAYS.
Still having occasional heartburn. Nausea is pretty much gone. Some back pain and joint pain has appeared.
This week also had the appearance of round ligament pain. I don’t remember that it was very bad with Logan but this time, it’s kind of a pain! I am hoping it is short lived.
Week 19
Had my OB zoom appointment. She said that the placenta (last month) was 1.7 millimeters from the cervix and it needs to be 2.5 millimeters for a vaginal birth. She is 99% sure it will move up and I will be fine. But we are still waiting to check at the next ultrasound in two weeks. It was a relief though!
To be continued…
