We had the chance to have another overnight away! Some friends invited us to stay at Edgefield overnight recently. Michael’s closest friend, Jeremy, recently had a baby and his wife Lynne works at a McMenamin’s so it sounded great to us.
Logan was home with his grandparents, so we got to escape Sunday morning and meet up for lunch at the Powerhouse Station Pub at Edgefield.
We’ve been there a billion times and I think Michael and I have stayed overnight twice at Edgefield. It’s a really nice hotel! Michael and I finally broke down and got a McMenamin’s Passport book. You can collect stamps and eventually get prizes. (Like we got a stamp for the golf course, for the Edgefield restaurants we ate at, going to the pool, etc). It’s kind of fun.
They were pretty busy! We hung out for a bit after lunch and then we were able to get our rooms and check in.
They required masks unless you were vaccinated. You could show them your vaccine card and then you got a wrist tag (like at a concert lol) that you wore while you were there and then you didn’t have to wear a mask. It was kind of weird to see so many unmasked people, but it was also kind of cool because it felt like things were back to “normal” too. Like….at some point we have to trust the science and that the vaccines work. However, I didn’t see any kind of enforcement so I wondered if people were just going unmasked anyways…ugh! All kinds of things to think about.
Michael and Jeremy went to play golf at the course on the property. It was a bit….rainy. π The day was 71 degrees and rainy and very humid.
While they were golfing, Lynne and I spent almost 3 hours in the soaking pool. It felt SO nice! We just relaxed and off and on it would rain pretty hard but it wasn’t bad when we were in the pool. A few times there was actually REALLY loud thunderstorms and the bartender said if there was lightning everyone had to get out of the pool. Thankfully no lightning, just a cool spring storm.
Eventually the boys joined us. I love the soaking pool! Then I went to get showered and cleaned up for dinner. We had late reservations at the Black Rabbit.
Michael got the lamb with polenta. I got the confit chicken with mashed potatoes and kale. Dinner was really good!
We shared a piece of chocolate cake (it was really really sweet). And we got to play with their teeny baby! New baby snuggles…I can’t believe Logan was ever that tiny.
A good night’s sleep…and actually got to sleep in! Then breakfast. Michael got the omelette and I got the biscuits and gravy (it was just Ok…nothing compares to my aunt’s version).
It was so nice to see friends! And hold a baby π and I hope we can do it again. I am already planning a trip to the beach McMenamin’s for the fall.
We checked out and headed home for a relaxing, low key afternoon. We were both off work for the day so we got to relax and watch TV while we did laundry and not much else.

Looks like a great weekend! Our first dinner out in a year was for our anniversary, and we chose to go to the Tavern on the Square at the McMenamins in Bothell. We love that place, and, even though it’s not super-fancy, we were very happy to go someplace where we knew the facility and the staff is great and the food is always good. Nice to have another weekend away, and to snuggle a bitty one without having to wake up all night to feed him!

I’ve been wanting to go to the one in Bothell for a long time! I saw pictures of the pool and it looks amazing.
