It’s weird to have plans all of a sudden! After a year of almost no plans…
Sunday I went swimming and worked in the yard. It was 80 degrees out and sunny and hot and I enjoyed the shade and some lemonade. Yay summer!
On Monday, I met up with my cousin for a hike and lunch. We met at Woods Memorial Park. It’s a hike I did before with the family and remembering it being kind of nice.
The trail starts downhill but this time, we explored some parts of the park that had other trails that I didn’t know about. Some of them were a pretty good workout!
It was 85 degrees on Memorial Day. The park was heavily shaded and much cooler, so that was nice. One trail in the park was closed due to what looked like storm damage. I imagine from the ice storm we had in February.
It was so nice to get outside on such a nice day. And it was really nice to hang out with my cousin and catch up. I am trying to think of the last time I saw her, it might have been more than a year and a half ago! So much has changed in the last year. I feel like at the start of the pandemic everyone tried really hard to stay in touch with friends and family–zoom happy hours, phone calls. And then as everything seemed to stretch on and on, I feel like people kind of stopped doing that. I am hearing from so many other people who feel the same, like people withdrew and kept to themselves.
The hike was nice and pretty good workout and a nice way to spend the day.
After that we went to lunch. We went to DuBerry Cafe in John’s Landing (which is near the waterfront, between downtown Portland and Sellwood). It was a cute cafe with outdoor seating. It was so weird being in a restaurant again!
We both got mimosas and the eggs benedict. It was pretty good! I didn’t particularly like the style of hashbrowns but the bennie was delicious. So were the drinks. 🙂
While I was out, Logan and Michael had a special day together. They went for a hike and then got lunch at a local burger joint. Then home for Logan to finally take a nap (he dropped naps but he is especially crabby on the weekends around 3:30 because of no naps)! I got home and Logan was still sleeping so I laid down for a 20 minute nap myself. It was such a nice day.
