I am writing this post Saturday afternoon on our deck, in 82 degrees and sunny weather! In April!
Friday I took a half day off work because the weather was so nice (but extremely windy) and Michael and I got lunch at a local food cart. Then that afternoon we got notifications of a nearby fire. The area was in evacuation notice and it was less than 5 miles from our house. I’ll be honest, it was a little stressful. It felt like a repeat of last fall when the wildfires forced us to evacuate and my aunt’s farm was narrowly spared from the Beachie Creek Fires. For a few hours we were, once again, monitoring the evacuation map. Thankfully, by the evening the firefighters got it out!
It was still stressful and not something I wanted to relive or think about.
Saturday we went for a family hike and picnic! Logan was SO excited. We went to Milo McIver Park (and ironically drove right by the area that had been near the fires!). The hike we were going to do in the park was closed, so we went to the other side of the park, near the boat launch and campgrounds and found some other trails.
It was so nice out. There were a TON of people there with their boats, SUP and kayaks. The water looked very cold to me!
Logan got an explorer’s kit for his birthday from a friend so he was out exploring with his magnifying glass, binoculars and compass. Somehow he knew what North, South, East and West were–even though we’ve never talked about it. Yay for Youtube Kid Influencer videos I guess?? LOL
The part of the park we were hiking is also the equestrian area. We saw horses! always fun.
We hiked a little over two miles and then had a picnic lunch. It was so nice out! It felt like summer.
Logan fell asleep in the car ride home. We unpacked, Michael mowed the lawn, Logan watched some TV and I fell asleep for 20 minutes on the couch. LOL Then it was out on the deck!
BBQ chicken for dinner. Kind of a perfect day.
Sunday was another gorgeous day and Logan and I met a friend in the park. It was so nice out. I also got slightly sunburned, even though I wore sunscreen! It was a pretty good weekend. Looking forward to summer.
