Woohoo!! First vaccine done!
I don’t know how it is in the rest of the country (but per Instagram, it seems incredibly easy everywhere else) but getting a vaccine in Oregon is INCREDIBLY hard. It has been so frustrating! It really should not be this hard and it makes me worried about the people who don’t have computer access or the ability/time to obsessively check every day for new appointments.
Despite that, Michael and I were able to get appointments through our insurance. Thankfully a friend on Twitter who has the same insurance posted about the new appointments available and I jumped on it! So thankful!
The whole process was super easy and didn’t take long. The shot itself was painless. Then we had to wait a bit afterward to make sure we were ok. All in all the whole thing took 1 hour.
We both felt ok afterward.
No side effects. Slightly sore arm but it was barely noticeable. I had a very small, minor headache that wasn’t significant enough to even take a Tylenol. No fever. No other side effects. I went for a run the next day and my heart rate was really high. This is usually a sign that I am about to get sick or fighting off something. So maybe that was my body reacting to the vaccine. Who knows!
I know the second dose is usually the one that causes more side effects. We’ll find out in a month!

Yay! I’ve had both and my only symptom after #1 was extreme exhaustion. #2 had even less side effects, I just felt a trifle warm, a trifle cold, a little bit out of it – really very anticlimatic!

That is great to hear! I am a little nervous about the second dose! Hope it’s nothing

So glad you both got your vaccines. I finally received my second dose this past Tuesday and had the worse reactions. Extremely sore back, terrible headache and the chills it felt like the flu! Had to take Advil and went to bed. The next day I was all better. Here in central Florida we had a VERY hard time getting an appointment. But now I can go back to the gym after a year! Oh and by the way Lisa I really like your new blog layout it looks so fresh.

I am a bit nervous about the second shot, but grateful we even got appointments! And I am with you. I am already planning on returning to the gym post-vaccine! I actually got excited about it!
Thanks for the compliment! I like the new blog too. 🙂

My husband and I (and my neighbor) got second Pfizer’s yesterday. Only a tiny bit of soreness so far.
None of us had issues with first Pfizer shot.
My 27 year old got her Pfizer’s Dec/Jan and had about five days of being very tired with 2nd.
My mother (80) got her Pfizer’s in January and also was tied after second.
My 23 year old daughter got her Pfizer’s in March/April and noticed nothing with either shot. She is in college in ohio, the rest of us are in Indiana. We set hers up off campus. (Her university is now trying to get all the kids vaccinated. They were doing J&J with a food truck parked outside and vouchers for free food. Not sure what they are doing now. The governor of her college state has done a very good job. He sent the college kids home fast last year. He is now trying to get them all vaccinated before they go home again.)
My son (31) and his wife had J&J in March, they both had flu like symptoms. His lasted 2-3 days, hers was just 1 day. No other issues.
Those of us with no symptoms at all are hoping it is actually working on us. Those with symptoms wondered if that meant they would have been very sick with Covid.
Scheduling here has been very organized and well run.

I am glad everyone is getting vaccinated! It is so strange how different everyone’s experience is. I had almost no issue with the first. I am wondering how the second will be.
