I love long weekends. And it’s nice having a day to finally relax and not do anything structured. I decided I would take a rest day and not go to the gym. Instead, I wanted to go see Eat, Pray, Love.
I read the book a few years ago and absolutely loved it. It’s a well written book with a cool story–but I also read it at a time in my life when I was struggling with some things. I felt like I could identify with the story a lot…even if I didn’t travel to Italy, India or Bali.
I went to the matinee at the mall. There were plenty of temptations at the theatre. Starbucks AND ice cream??
There were even cookies bigger than my head!
Thank goodness I snuck in my own lunch. I resisted the temptations (it was hard) and settled with my own food. 1 leftover slice of deLite Pizza (165 calories), some blueberries (about 80 calories) and a mini Rice Krispie Treat (90 calories). I did however, buy a soda at the theatre. Dang! $3.75 for this small diet coke:
Outrageous! No wonder people always sneak in food to movie theatres. Who can afford to buy snacks?
QUESTION: If you could travel to three locations where would it be?
After seeing Eat, Pray, Love–Bali is definitely on my list. The place looks magical and romantic. Swimming in the crystal blue water, walking on the sandy beaches, listening to the sounds of the jungle as you sleep. I loved the scenery of Bali.
My three places would be:
1. Bali — see above reason and NO I am not including Javier Bardem as one of my reasons. π
2. Italy — I would give anything to go to Italy. I want to see Florence and Rome and especially Tuscany. Nothing sounds more heavenly to me than strolling through a vineyard drinking Italian wine and eating amazing Italian food. Cheese, meats, bread, spaghetti…My “happy place” would definitely be there!
3. Greece –I don’t know why I am so attracted to the idea of Greece but it’s always been high on my list of “Must Sees”. The ruins, the brightly painted house on the cliff-sides, the beaches, the blue ocean…Wonderful. It doesn’t hurt that I love Greek food, too.
My version of Eat, Pray, Love would be Eat, Eat, Drink, and Love. π
I’m noticing a theme in all my destinations: food. π
When I got home, Michael and I went for a walk for about an hour and a half. It was a nice long walk and enough exercise for me. I’m looking forward to dinner!

I’m not sure if I’m just now noticing, b ut I love your header with the diff pics of you throughout your weight loss journey! Pretty cool.
Bali was beautiful–and it seemed like such a happy place.

The header was done by my boyfriend about a month ago I think? He did a great job! Have you been to Bali? I totally want to go there now….

I was lucky enough to go to Italy for work this year. It was WONDERFUL. I will go back for sure and take my husband with me. Also, Greece is on our list of dream destination as well! It looks amazing. I think I need to watch this movie. I’ve read the book, but haven’t seen the movie yet. Did you like it?
Lisa Eirene
I dragged my feet seeing the movie because I liked the book so much. The movie was good though. It stayed pretty close to the book and I like Julia Roberts.

Those three are definitely on my list as well. I’ve wanted to go to Tuscany since seeing Under the Tuscan Sun, Bali since reading Eat, Pray, Love and Greece has been a lifelong hope, but I’m not sure where the dream started.
My grandmother recently asked me exactly where I would like to travel and I told her ” Where wouldn’t I like to travel?”…but these three are definitely on my Must See list.
I guess I should get out to see the movie soon! I’ve heard mixed reviews so I’ve been dragging my feet…

I want to see that movie SO bad! I was supposed to go this weekend but it was so gorgeous out in DC I couldn’t bring myself to be inside for that long. Soon, though! π

Mmmm… I’ve seen so much of the world already it is a little hard to decide. I’ve done 90% of Europe, I’ve been to Taiwan & India…
I’m going to go with:
New Zealand – because it is extraordinary.
Iceland – because it’s my heritage. I want to visit my motherland.
Chile – because I would love to see the Andes and I think S.A. is exotic and beautiful.
Lisa Eirene
New Zealand would be amazing too.

We have a trip to Italy planned with friends for 2018 if you wanna get in on that! Will give you time to save up (it’ll be there 10 year wedding anniversary but I know they’re totally serious about going).
I haven’t thought about traveling internationally in a while as we’ve loved our more “local” trips: Vancouver BC, Montreal, Oregon Coast. We were supposed to go to Japan 7 years ago for our honeymoon but still haven’t made it. As I get older, I do feel like I’m running out of time to explore but we’re not quite in a place at the moment to be able to run away.

Japan is on my list too. My brother has been twice and he liked it a lot.
