It’s finally done! Check out the before pictures here.
It took forever to finish, but it’s finally done. The walls are “Luxury Linen” and the trim is white. A friend gave me a gallon of leftover paint from her new house and I decided to add some splash of color to the room and painted one door blue. It’s a dark blue (“Goodnight Moon“) but it looks striking. And I think it really looks nice and compliments the orange rug (that covers the hideous floors).
(Those are Michael’s toys lol).
I got the art back up and made the finishing touches. The window trim is mostly painted white but not entirely because we are having the windows redone in a few months. So once the new ones are installed I’ll finish up the rest of the trim white and we might look at getting new blinds for the office.
I like how light the room feels now. It’s very bright and cheerful. I added plants. Hopefully they will do well in here! I tried having plants in here before but they always died because it was so dark.
I love how it turned out. I kinda wish I’d done it sooner! But it looks really nice and makes me happier. As far as minor house projects goes, this is kind of the final one. Last summer I painted our bedroom and Logan’s room and the office was kind of the last one. The other house projects are more involved–like redoing the master bathroom. That requires hiring someone and not something we plan on doing anytime soon. But we’ve been slowly getting some of the smaller projects off the to-do list and it feels good.

Looks fabulous! I love the door. The shelves of toys look great, it is a fun grouping. Yes, a snake plant might make it with low light. Very cute room for work.
I was just reading about putting leftover paint for touch ups in smaller cans for ease of storage and so there is less air in the cans (think a quart or smaller can full, vs a gallon can with just a few inches of paint left in it). Label well (I wondered if the mix labels would pull off original cans and restick to new cans, have not tried). I also keep pictures of the labels of old paint cans and keep all the paper paint samples for the whole house in an envelope. (Somehow in all of that I do not have my ceiling or white trim paint ID/mix numbers which just kills me. . .)
I took down what was hanging on one big wall in my living room, filled holes, touched up paint, and am now getting ready to hang a gallery of bird prints. I collected frames. Audubon allows free downloads of their prints (ordering prints from Shutterfly with a 40% off coupon) and I ordered a few things from Etsy. By the time it is done, it will have happily occupied me for a couple months, which is very very good.

Thank you!!!
That’s a good idea about the paint. There are a ton of cans from the previous owner. Some are labeled, which is nice.
I will check out Audubon. That’s a great idea.
