Logan and I have been in Seattle for a few days now. The air quality in the entire NW is pretty bad but honestly Seattle is not terrible compared to Portland. And my parent’s house is really good. We don’t smell any smoke inside of the house.
The weekend was pretty foggy and cool. We went down to Edmonds to go to the beach and walk on the pier. We weren’t there for long, maybe 45 minutes or so. No one else was really out. It was smoky and foggy but not horrific. And I could smell the Sound and fish and ocean water, so that was good!
It was good to get out of the house for a little bit. Logan got to run around, play in the sand, throw rocks.
Friday night I made this recipe for rockfish. It turned out pretty good!
Saturday night we had Ivar’s clam chowder for dinner! I love Ivar’s!
Sunday we woke up to mist and fog and it seemed like less smoke. It didn’t smell bad outside and everything felt a little wet.
My dad and I took Logan to the park for a bit Sunday morning. It was nice!
Sunday we had tortilla soup.
I was planning on heading home Monday but the weather report changed and the rain got pushed back another day. The air quality was still terrible at home. I decided to stay one more day. Monday the air quality in Seattle was worse, so we didn’t really play outside this time.
My aunt’s farm and house is still doing ok. After the second wave of fires, it was spared again, so that’s good.
I know a lot of people who were not so lucky. It’s really tragic. I feel so terrible for people who lost everything. I can’t imagine how stressful it is and where do you even start to try and rebuild your life?
I am so ready for rain. Lots and lots of rain.
