On Friday I (finally) got to sleep in a bit, which was nice because it was a late night! We had breakfast (I had two fried eggs and my leftover onion and tomato salad!) and my brother and his wife left for a big (not Logan friendly) hike:
So my parents, Michael and I packed up a picnic lunch and headed north from Waikoloa Village for two hikes.
The first hike was in the Hawi wind country (Opolu Point). It was at the airport up there. We parked in the airport parking lot and then hiked on a lava rock/dirt road to the Point.
We also saw whales out in the ocean.
The second hike was at Lapakahi State Park. It was so cool! It was a historical site with some huts.
We had a picnic lunch in the shade at the park and then drove to the beach and thankfully Logan took a nap in the car.
When we got A-Bay at Waikoloa Village, Logan was still sleeping so Michael hung out in the car for another 30 minutes or so so Logan could get a good nap and I went to the beach with my parents.
While I waited for Logan and Michael I swam laps in the ocean. It was nice but on this particular day the waves were choppy and kind of big so it was harder. Several times I was swimming laps and it felt like I wasn’t moving at all!
Then Michael and Logan joined us and we played in the ocean and then did some beach walks and then headed home to clean up before dinner. We got happy hour ahi nachos at Kuleana Rum Shack in Waikoloa Village.
There was a free hula show at the mall and we saw 5 minutes before the toddler was done so we went home for an early night.
The trip was fantastic. Not relaxing in any way but not TOO stressful. Our pattern was up, breakfast, hike or run and something touristy and the beach in the afternoon. It seemed to work well. I felt like we saw a TON of stuff and did a ton of stuff. I wish we could have spent more time at certain things we saw but it’s hard with a toddler who has a short attention span. So it is what it is. It was still paradise!
