We had a busy weekend. We drove to Seattle Saturday morning for my grandma’s 98th birthday party. Unfortunately the drive was not fun! It took us 4.5 hours (usually takes 3 hours). Traffic was not great and Logan did NOT sleep at all! He usually takes a nap on car rides. So that wasn’t exactly fun. But we got to Seattle and celebrated my Grandma’s birthday.
She loves Bingo so we had a bingo party!
It was fun and Grammy cleaned up! She won the jackpot. 🙂
There was cake and presents and then we went back to my parent’s house for dinner. My dad and Michael got burgers from a place near the house and my mom and I got cobb salads.
Sunday we drove home. It was slightly better…Logan slept for about an hour but then was awake the rest of the drive and squirmy. I think he’s at an age right now where long car rides are not ideal! Nothing we tried kept him busy or occupied and he got fussy and whiny. So I think we’ll refrain from long drives until he’s a bit older!
We got home with enough time to unpack and do laundry and I went swimming. But other than that, not much of a weekend! A lot of car!
Now for an update: I’ve been doing keto since mid-November, maybe the 12 or 13th? I forget the exact date I started up again. I’ve been 90% “good” on the diet. I took a one day break for Thanksgiving and I plan on taking Christmas Day off from the diet. But other than that, I am doing my best to stay on the plan.
I’ve lost 6 pounds so far!

We did 10-12 hour trips a couple times a year with kids.
A bag packed with fabulous things they only get in car helps. Magnet boards and finger puppets for example.
Electronics are good in car. My kids had DS lites when they were young. The three of them could connect and race/fight each other in car.
We listened to a lot of audio books on trips when the kids were little. You can age up quite a bit, they do not have to be picture book level. Little House on Prairie, Borrowers, The Littles, Peter Pan, Swiss Family Robinson, Amelia Bedelia, etc. I encourage you to “read up” with audible books and what you read aloud. Chapter books young increase their vocabulary and “sophisticate up” their tastes, promotes really strong reading abilities quickly.

Those are good ideas. We pack toys, books, the ipad, none of it was working this time. He kept yelling “let me out of here!” I’m hoping it’s just a phase

My daughter was just telling me that everyone she knows who has done keto
Ends up with major acne trouble that lasts long after the keto. I did not realize that was a thing. What do you think about this?
Lisa Eirene
I haven’t seen that happen.
