This post is about how I felt restarting keto, how I did with my macros, and my weigh-ins.
Updates
Day 1 – 22 net carbs. Felt foggy, dizzy and NOT hungry at all all day long.
Day 2 – 25 net carbs.Intermittent fasting… It’s easy on the day I work from home because I get up, go to the gym, then come home and start work & make my breakfast. It’s harder to do the other days. Felt better today.
Day 3 – 17 net carbs. Felt nauseated all day, not hungry at all. Didn’t eat my lunch until almost 2pm! Was at 67% out of goal of 70% for fat intake. Was 100 calories over goal.
Day 4 – 20 net carbs, 74% fat for the day. Felt pretty good. Not hungry. Ran during my lunch break and was expecting it to be a horrible slog. It wasn’t! Lots of energy, legs felt good. 3.5 mile run and didn’t feel like I was dying.
Day 5 – 25 net carbs. Had a good workout, didn’t feel lethargic.
Day 6 – 26 net carbs, 71% fat. Near perfect day on macros, slightly high on net carbs. Swimming felt good, not slow or tired.
Day 7 – 21 net carbs. Had about 250 calories leftover for the day.
Day 8 – 21 net carbs. Rest Day, went over my calories by about 200.
Day 9 – 34 net carbs. Bummer! My day was pretty good fat % and calorie wise, but I had cauliflower “mashed potatoes” so maybe that was a bit high. Disappointed with my carbs.
Day 10 – 18 net carbs. Thanks to Atkin’s bar for dessert that has a ton of fiber…!
Day 11 – Between 25-30 net carbs. I had some munchies here and there so my tracking is off. 🙁
Day 12 – 23 net carbs.
Day 13- 20 net carbs.
Day 14 – Around 15 net carbs. Had a few munchies.
Day 15 – Thanksgiving, didn’t track.
Day 16 – 17 net carbs. Didn’t eat a ton, wasn’t hungry.
Day 17 – 15 net carbs.
Overall I’ve felt ok. Not too many symptoms. Maybe because my body is used to going low carb? The first few days I didn’t feel good (stomach issues, nausea, headache) and then on days I worked out (AFTER working out) I felt fatigue in my muscles.
Weigh In
First week back on Keto – Lost 4 pounds, but that’s most likely water weight. The second week is what matters.
Second week back on Keto – didn’t lose anything but Thanksgiving was in there plus PMS bloating. We’ll see how the next week goes.
Third week – Down 1 pound. Not great but at least not a gain. Jeans are looser!
