For Christmas I gave Michael a cooking class at Hip Cooks. Michael is very hard to shop for and I was at a loss for gifts…then I realized that something relating to cooking would be perfect. Cooking together is something we love to do. I don’t like cooking all that much but for some reason, I love to do it with him.
I searched around for the right kind of place and found Hip Cooks. The different menu options were great and everything sounded good! After months of being too busy, training for things, or having house guests, we finally took the cooking class.
It was hard to narrow down the choices. Finally, we decided on:
Una Noche en España- a Tapas Class
Description: Olé! Let Hipcooks transport you to Sevilla as we prepare all kinds of gorgeous Spanish nibbles. A perfect class to take so that you can invite 30 of your friends and throw a tapas party yourself.
The Menu:
- Marinated olives
- Spicy candied nuts
- Pure de garbanzo w/ pita toasts
- Manchego con Membrillo (Spanish cheese with quince paste)
- Tortilla Española & spicy salad
- Camarones Bravas – garlicky saffron shrimp
- Empanadillas Argentinas
- Flan with caramel designs
We got to the location a little early so we stopped at a restaurant to grab a drink while we waited.
I’d never heard of Lincoln Restaurant before but it was a really trendy, cool looking place.
I got a glass of the house red–which was really strong and full-bodied.
Michael got some fancy whiskey.
I’d definitely go back to try their dinners. The menu looked unique.
Michael convinced me we needed to try their onion rings. Since we didn’t know how long it would be before we’d eat the food made in the class, I agreed.
The onion rings were small and very different than normal onion rings. They were pretty good!
After munching on the onion rings, we headed over to the class!

Yummy food. Ryan and I took a cooking class once and had so much fun.
To answer a question you left on my blog, I don’t have a foam roller yet, I should get one, since I have a tight IT band – Massage kills me! But I have a hard time spending extra money right now, and that seems like an extra money thing.

I get that. Mine was about $15 and it was the best thing I’ve ever bought.
