Saturday we woke pretty early and had breakfast at the house and then got ready to go out for a bit. The first stop was the Eugene Saturday Market.
It was really big, with lots of really interesting booths. So much handmade stuff! Lots of art, jewelry, paintings, you name it. Also, lots of tie dye, 😉 and then a whole section of farm fresh fruits and veggies and locally made cheese and bread.
There was so much to see. We only spent an hour walking around. I bought a few small art pieces and we got some heirloom tomatoes, amazing salsa and a loaf of fresh sourdough.
Logan started getting antsy so we left after that. I could have spent another hour at least, looking at everything.
We dropped the stuff back at the house and then went to Mount Pisgah Arboretum for a “hike”. It was a pretty area with what looked like lots of different hikes.
We took the easy hike along the river and by the ponds, and then through an art exhibition. We did just under a mile a half and Logan was getting tired and cranky so we left.
Next time it would be nice to explore some more and really do some hiking!
Next stop: lunch. We planned on going to one of the gastropubs near the house but then my cousin Di texted me and said we should check out The Cannery. It was one of her favorite restaurants. So we went there and realized it was the one place we’ve stopped at in Eugene! We ate lunch there three years ago, and we both liked it so we decided to stay and go again.
We like The Cannery a lot. The food is fantastic and the service is great. Logan got a grilled cheese sandwich with fries. I got the BLT that also had prosciutto on it, with coleslaw on the side. My lunch was outstanding!
Fantastic lunch! Michael got the roast beef sandwich with fries.
After lunch: back to the house for naps. Logan went to sleep right away (it was a busy morning!) and I laid down and fell asleep too. It was so peaceful and quiet. Michael was out doing something and I had a lovely little nap. 😀
When Logan got up we went to The Adventure Children’s Museum. It was in the mall and a little weird at first but so fun! Logan LOVED it and didn’t want to leave! There was a giant pirate ship with a slide, a Lego station, little kid legos, a giant train set, stuffed animals, cool little rooms about different things (animals, etc), an area for puppet shows and dress-up, a piano and other instruments. Tons of fun kid stuff.
We spent almost two hours there and then it was time to head back to the house for Logan to have dinner, bath and bedtime. After he went down Michael and I got to decompress with some beers, leftover pizza, salad and Michael made bruschetta with the stuff we got from the Saturday market.
ALL CARBS!
Sunday we had breakfast and packed up and then went to Skinner Butte to see the view.
Then down to Riverplay in Skinner Butte for Logan to play for about an hour before the drive home. It was a great park! So much to do and so many cool play toys.
There were some people making giant bubbles and Logan was so fascinated (and we were too). It was cool watching and then watching Logan trying to pop the bubbles. 😀
It was a memorable weekend. We had a great time and will go back next summer to really do some hiking.
