February Goals
Happy February! My big goal for the month? NOT GET THE FLU. Seriously. Like half my office got it and was out for a week or more. Every day I see a new friend on facebook announce they have the flu. Everyone is dropping like dominoes. I really really don’t want to get it. I got a flu shot back in October (so did Logan) but apparently that means nothing this year. I’m just worried about Logan getting it!
So lots of vitamins, EmergenC and not touching anything in public.
Anyways, I do have a few goals I want to accomplish this month.
Squat Challenge.
Squats are a great (and easy) exercise to fit in anywhere, anytime, and it’s a GREAT activity for runners. I decided I wanted to do a squat challenge, do a certain amount of squats every day. I can easily do them at my desk while at work (I have a standing desk) and I already do squats on my weight lifting days, so I just need to add a few more. 🙂
Get Organized.
I have a lot of organizational projects brewing in my head. I’ve been periodically going through stuff at home and donating a lot of things we don’t need anymore, but we still have a tons of clutter and mess that just stresses me out.
I have a bunch of clothes that are looking old and dingy and not all of them fit that great. I’ve been holding on to different sizes because I keep hoping I’ll lose this weight and fit into them again. But perhaps it’s time to just donate some of that and get a few new outfits that fit right now.
I have been going through books and packing up stuff that I don’t need out on the shelves, but I want to keep for awhile. So boxes they go.
I need to go through our file cabinet and get rid of/shred old paperwork we don’t need anymore.
The kitchen pantry is making me mental. The fridge and freezer are a disaster. I need to do this asap!
I’d like to get a new desk for the office. Something smaller and more organized. We don’t really use the office or office computer for too much (I basically just use that computer now for LightRoom photo editing) because I just use my laptop for everything else. So it doesn’t make sense to me to have a huge desk that takes up half the room.
Try Some New Recipes.
We have a pretty basic diet and dinners are about 4-6 different rotations of a protein with salad and veggie but lately I’ve been feeling a little blah about my diet and would like to change things up. I don’t know yet what that means, I might try doing some more vegetarian lunches at work, I might try carb cycling. I haven’t decided yet. I love the Oh She Glows website and have tried a few of her recipes, so I might delve in a little deeper there.
QUESTION: What are your goals for the month?
Vickie
On the closet – A family member just moved and started new job. And she did a very smart thing. She organized by outfit. And she rounded out as she did it. So if she needed a white top to complete an outfit, she went and got one. Her first goal was to complete two weeks worth of work outfits. I think that was really smart.
I “what not to wear-ed” myself many years ago. I took every single thing out of my closet. (That is key.)
And then started trying on.
I got rid of a lot. Many things went to alteration shop. Somethings went to dry cleaner. Etc.
I also got a full length mirror. And that might be my suggestion for a first step. Taking pictures would be good idea too.

Those are GREAT tips! I will definitely do that. I have stuff that is at least 10 years old. I mean, I was in maintenance mode for 10 years so I didn’t go up or down too much in sizes for a long time. I didn’t have to buy a lot of new stuff for until post-baby!

Vickie that is a great idea to pull everything out – I think I’m going to do that!
Lori
I need to purge my closet. I have some stuff that I like, but just don’t wear. It’s not practical for my day-to-day wardrobe. I try to purge when I purchase. For everything I buy, I have to get rid of one.
You should get some clothes that fit now, even just a couple pieces. It will make you feel good about yourself, plus it’s fun shopping!

Good suggestions. I need to do that. I’ve been feeling uncomfortable and frumpy. I am so in-between sizes! The stuff I wore right after having Logan is way too big but everything else is too small. SIGH
Beth Sher
Lisa – I would suggest maybe adding some new appliances to your dinner repertoire – we recently got an Instant Pot and an Air Fryer and having a lot of fun trying new recipes. SkinnyTaste has a ton of Instant Pot recipes and every one we’ve tried we’ve liked. And for Super Bowl I made egg rolls in the air fryer – yum! And tonight I’m trying out Tilapia. So it’s given us some new recipes to try and the Instant Pot especially it seems there are always a ton of leftovers so I’ve got the freezer stocked for lunches too.

I love SkinnyTaste recipes! And I’ve been debating about whether or not to get an instant Pot for about a year now. I suppose I should just bite the bullet and do it!
Beth Sher
You’ll get a lot of mileage out of it! We tend to use it on Sundays when we have a bit more time – but especially at this time of the year when it’s so cold it’s nice to have those warm comfort foods

That sounds so great
