Pacifiers. A friend’s daughter in law has what I think is a good solution for removing them fairly painlessly. First she gets down to one. And then they go to build a Bear on a set day, which I think is second birthday, and they put the one in a bear.

When both my boys gave up the pacifiers and diapers at 2..we made a big thing about how it was time to give them to the babies. Not any specific baby, but babies in general as it would remind them that they were “big boys”. So leading up to the big day (as we did the three-day potty training method) which was over a long weekend, we kept saying “in 4 days where do the diapers and suces go?” (We called pacifiers the french word of suce, pronounced suss). And they would shriek “the babies”. So on day 1 of the 3-day overhaul it was game on. We never looked back. Hardest three days but worked with bith kids…thankfully! Good luck!

I love that! We did something similar with the bottles when we switched to sippy cups. I had Logan help me pack up all his bottles to send to the “babies” who needed them. He loved helping!

When our sons were about that age my husband and I would say that the boys had their Cozy Coupe car (the plastic Fred Flintstone car) and could do everything for themselves, all we needed to do was rent them an apartment and our jobs were done! Haha!! Not to frighten you, but 3 and 4 are just as challenging as 2. Perhaps it’s because at 2 they can walk, talk and do more for themselves and they just keep going.
Regarding the pacifiers – we got down to one, limited when it could be used and then when the time was right they had to throw it away.

My 2 year old is also obsessed with his jacket! Will. Not. Take. It. Off. It’ll be 2 degrees out and he’s in his fleece instead of his winter coat because the tantrum in the car seat just isn’t worth it.

On the pacifier, we were going to force the end of it when he turned 2, but then his dentist said it’s fine until 3 so he still has the pacifier (even though I hate the damn thing).

What is it about the jacket? Have you figured out the obsession?

I’d say the pockets, but he was obsessed with it even before he realized there were pockets. Toddlers are weird.
