I’m so overwhelmed with all the generosity! Our friends were amazing and came out to celebrate this little guy. I just feel really touched at all the love I felt at my shower.
My friend Dawn, my mother-in-law and mom spent a few months planning a baby shower for me. It was a brunch theme. There were fluffy buttermilk pancakes with all the toppings (various syrups, blueberries and raspberries and lemon curd), plus a ton of fruit and two egg casseroles that were a big hit. There were mimosas, tea and coffee and my sister-in-law made these AMAZING lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting:
My mom and Michael spent Friday night finishing up the nursery (hanging the curtains, etc) and I’ll share the nursery pictures soon. Saturday morning came and I had contemplated going to the gym before but decided not to. And I’m glad. It was a really long day.
There was a diaper raffle for the shower. Anyone that wanted to participate brought a bag of diapers and their name was entered into a raffle for a prize. It was a great idea by my friend Dawn and we got tons of diapers of various sizes! I’m told by other parents we’ll go through that stash pretty quickly LOL, but still, we’re set for diaper for a bit! Plus a friend gave us a TON of clothe diapers of various sizes so I need to figure out how those work for when the baby is a little bigger.
I think there were like 18 or 20 people at the shower. The turn out was wonderful and it was sooo good to see everyone! We ate and socialized and then moved into the living room for presents. Baby boy got so many wonderful, cute and helpful things. I think we are pretty much set.
Lots of clothes and baby toys, teethers and blankets and towels. So many things! It was overwhelming and chaotic in good way. I feel spoiled. 🙂
My sister-in-law Julie made us this gift basket with tons of things. It was such a cool idea I had to share what she did. So she got a bunch of clothes, a few baby shoes, bibs, toys, etc, then attached them all with clothespins to a clothesline, folded them up inside this cute basket with the monkey blanket, then as you started to pull the items out they were all connected.
It kept coming and coming:
And it stretched all around the entire room. It was such a fun idea!
My mom made little goodie bags:
And then the party ended. It was a lovely, lovely day. After everyone left my mom and mother-in-law helped sort through all the gifts and organize the baby clothes by sizes. It was nice to just sit in the glider and relax and let them take over. 😉
Michael’s favorite baby item:
Diapers!
Here are just a few of the cute outfits we got! And we got a LOT of clothes! This kid won’t need clothes for awhile.
So many cute things!
I had considered going to the gym after my shower but I was truly exhausted and in kind of a daze! I was so worn out and hit the wall at about 4pm that I decided to skip it. My mom and I went to Target to get some storage bins for the nursery, Michael kindly made us dinner (frozen lasagna and sauteed kale), which hit the spot and I was in bed early early early.
Sunday morning my mom gave Michael and I an infant and child CPR/First Aid lesson. She teaches CPR/First Aid for her job and it was great that she was able to teach us. It was quicker and easier than taking a class and saved us about $300! It was a good refresher for me.
After my mom left I went to the gym and then met up with a friend for a walk. It was a sunny, very warm day and it was so nice getting outside! Bella was excited to go for a walk, too.
It was such a wonderful weekend. I wouldn’t change a thing. It was a truly special thing for Michael and I and I am just so happy that our friends could share it with us!

Lots of clothes! We won’t need to get clothes for awhile–unless this kid is some kind of giant. LOL

What a great party they organized for you, you were so spoiled (which you well deserved). I love the suit “my sister has a tail” 🙂

That one was one of my favorites, too. 🙂
