Recently I was contacted by Buddha Teas asking if I wanted to try their product and give a review. I agreed immediately because I love tea! I was also happy to have the opportunity to use a wedding gift from a friend–an amazing tea set.
I liked that Buddha Teas uses only organic teas and that the tea bags are bleach-free.

I’m intrigued by their Lavender Tea and might try that flavor next. I’m DEFINITELY trying their Passion Flower Tea soon!
My preference in tea leans towards black tea, flower teas and berry teas. When we were in Hawaii for our honeymoon I exclusively drank the local Passionfruit tea and LOVED it. Some other flavors I always have in my house: Moroccan Mint, English Breakfast and Jasmine Pearl tea.
I was able to pick the tea I wanted to try and review and chose the “Skinny Buddha Tea.” Don’t worry, I’m not under any delusions that this tea is somehow magical and going to help me lose weight, but I was curious to try it and the ingredients sounded delicious.
Ingredients:
- Organic Green tea
- Organic Hibiscus
- Organic Bilberry Leaf
- Organic Cranberry
- Organic Lemongrass
- Organic Triphala
- Organic Chickweed
The ingredients that intrigued me were the hibiscus, cranberry and lemongrass. I didn’t know what Triphala was and had to google it. Apparently it’s used in Ayurvedic medicine. It’s supposed to help with weight loss, boost immune system, and relieve gastrointestinal issues. I also didn’t know what Chickweed was. “People take chickweed for constipation, stomach and bowel problems, blood disorders, asthma and other lung diseases, obesity, a vitamin C deficiency disease called scurvy, a skin condition called psoriasis, rabies, itching, and muscle and joint pain. (source)” I have to admit, I was intrigued by the psoriasis mention–I do have psoriasis and I was curious about whether the natural herb could help. It would be nice to go the homeopathic route someday instead of relying on medicine.
How was the tea?
I’m not a fan of green tea, unless it’s flavored. If it’s just straight green tea I can’t drink it–I’ve tried and just haven’t gotten used to it. The flavor in this was not overpowering and didn’t taste like green tea, which was a bonus for me. What I tasted most was the hibiscus, but it wasn’t a super strong flavor. It was nicely balanced.
I drank the tea mid-morning to stave off hunger. I liked that it helped with that and it made it easier to go a little bit longer in between breakfast and lunch. I had a big, steaming cup around 11am at work one day and it took me awhile to drink it, and that kept me from snacking on junk that’s around the office.
Now for the fun part!

I’d like to give the Hawthorn Berry Tea a spin. I have high blood pressure and am always looking for herbal supplements to support cardiovascular health. I’ve heard hawthorn was beneficial, but I’ve never tried it. Thanks!
