Wow what a crazy, exciting, stressful, amazing week! Lots of ups and downs. On election night, I was at the gym. I worked out on the elliptical for the first time since my knee issues and was glad that it went well. I watched the news coverage of the election there and then raced home to watch it with Michael.
Dinner was an easy, throw everything in a bowl kind of meal that actually worked. We had some mini tortellinis from Costco and topped it with steamed broccoli, then diced up a boneless pork chop on top. I drizzled it with olive oil and fresh parmesan cheese. It was delicious.
I had a glass (or two) of Twisted Zinfandel (great wine) while I watched the election coverage and ended up staying up way too late to hear both speeches. I paid for it the next day. The alarm went off and I had an “election hangover” for sure!
And more good news! Michael is OFFICIALLY EMPLOYED! About a month ago, I told you guys the big news in our lives. I got a promotion and Michael got a contract-to-hire position with a fabulous company. It was a 90 day contract and then they would decide if they wanted to hire him as a permanent employee. Well, it didn’t take 90 days. In fact, they started negotiating a contract with Michael after 21 days! He’s a rockstar!
So as of November 12th, Michael has a permanent job at the amazing place he’s been temping at. I’m really proud of him and it’s a tremendous stress-reliever knowing we can finally relax a little about the job stuff. The “unknowns” of this year have been stressful. Living in limbo and not being able to make any future plans is hard.
For the last month I’ve been feeling as though I was “about” to get sick. It’s been that run-down, exhausted, it’s all I can do to stay up til 9 pm each night. I have no idea why. I’ve never felt this way unless I was getting sick, and yet the sickness hasn’t arrived. I’ve been taking it easy on the weekends and spending my down time reading and watching movies. It’s not exactly the ideal weekend for me and I’m hoping to kick this lethargy soon.
Last week I posted about Fat Kitty and his eating disorder. Christy left this comment:
“One way to get her to slow down was to spread her food over a large counter or baking sheet so she was forced to eat each piece of food individually instead of in gulps from a bowl.”
Well…it WORKED. It was absolutely brilliant! I put the food on a dinner plate and patted it down flat. Fat Kitty looked at me, very confused, looked at the food and then walked away. I watched him the first night and he would take a few bites, then walk away. In the morning there was some food left over. I could not believe something as simple as this WORKED. Thank you Christy! Now let’s see if Fat Kitty loses a few pounds as a result.
And completely unrelated to anything in this random post: I am so happy that the peppermint coffee creamer is finally in the stores! YAY!
QUESTION: How was your week? Any highlights?

That is totally awesome. Getting full time work is awesome. So happy for you and Michael ; the mental stress that will be one less thing to worry about.
I love the photo of the pres and Michelle. Cool idea on the cat food. Our kitties are still young, but it always helps to know. Good stuff.
Lisa Eirene
I loved that photo too. Even if it’s just a manufactured press photo, I love how they seem to really be in love with each other. It’s so romantic!
Give this food method a try and see how your kitties do. It’s doing WONDERS for my cats!

Great news about Michael! I myself am in the job market, and the past few months have been hard to just come to terms with only being employed part-time, if that sometimes. I can totally relate to that stress, and am very happy that you’re done with the uncertainty for a while!
Lisa Eirene
I hope you find some peace in your situation soon! It is so so hard. 🙁
