I just wanted to give a shout-out to my friend Tim, who just texted me asking if I were pregnant. Apparently he read my blog. 🙂 Haha very funny!
I have some exciting news (for me). I have a work opportunity that I’m really excited about. Unfortunately I can’t reveal too much because of where I work but for the next month I will be filling in for someone in a different department. She’s retiring and they didn’t find a replacement in time. It’s a part time gig but it will be something new and hopefully interesting! I start training today. I’m really excited!
Now for the Heavenly Food…
Last night Michael and I were apparently psychic with our food cravings. I was about to leave for the grocery store to buy steak for dinner and he said, “How do you feel about steak for dinner?” Sweet! I picked up a smallish (12 oz) Sirloin steak and Michael grilled it up outside.
We split the steak, so we each got 6 ounces–the perfect amount. I sliced up the zucchini and he grilled that too with the steak seasoning and some Grapeseed Oil. Then I topped the zucchini with blue cheese crumbles.
While Michael did the grilling, I baked the sweet potatoes in the oven.
Dinner was AMAZING! It’s one of my favorites that we make. The steak was juicy and grilled just right. The flavor was fantastic. And Sirloin Steak is so low in calories. Love it!
We decided that we want to make Sunday nights our “steak night.” I love the idea. Grilling up a steak outside sounds like the perfect way to spend the summer!
Now on to breakfast…I picked up these at the grocery store when I got the steak:
I’ve been craving waffles for awhile and when I saw that they only had 105 calories in it each I couldn’t resist! I bought a box.
So breakfast this morning was waffles with reduced sugar Syrup.
Honestly, I think the next time I make waffles I will use our regular syrup. While the calories are low in this, it tasted a little “off.” I guess I’m not used to sugar free anymore because I’ve been trying to eat more “real” food.
The waffles were yummy. I was a little worried that they wouldn’t be filling, but so far so good. I also had a few strawberries on the side.
So breakfast was fairly low calorie. 210 for waffles, 35 for the syrup, 35 or so for a little butter, and 50 for the strawberries.
QUESTION: If you eat steak, what is your favorite cut of beef?

I gave up meat over 4 months ago but my favorite was always filet mignon. You should try grilling up some corn with your steak next time.. it is SO good on the grill!

Corn sounds like a great idea! Michael uses chili powder and lime juice on his corn. That sounds fantastic.

Try grilling the sweet potatoes too! Yum, I brush them with a little olive oil and seasoned salt and toss thick slices right on the grill.

Oooh that sounds good! Next time for sure.

I normally let Mr BBB choose the meat cuts – as he is so much better at it than me 😉

Ahhh…Fred Meyer’s! I grew up in the Pacific NW, now live in California and seeing those pics is so nostalgic! We used to buy EVERYTHING at Fred Meyer when I was a kid 🙂
