On Tuesday night I met my friend Robyn at the gym for a spin class. It was so great to see her and I really like when we can go to classes together. This particular class wasn’t my favorite, however. I struggled to keep my heart rate up and didn’t sweat as much as I normally do in class. I was pretty disappointed. I think the problem was that the bulk of the class consisted of sprints. Sprints do not get my heart rate up, unfortunately. I prefer the classes that are intervals, hill climbs and standing climbs. But that’s my personal preference.
Trust me, it was a struggle to get to 400 calories burned! After the spin class I hit yoga for half an hour. My lower back had been bothering me for a few days and I hoped yoga would fix that. Once again, the yoga instructor seemed to have psychic insight into my body because the poses were all focused on the lower back. It felt fantastic.
500 calories or so for the gym isn’t bad. I was happy and feeling better when I went home.
And now I’d like to share a game that Fat Kitty and I like to play. It’s called “Mommy tries to Read a Book.”
You too can play this game. All you need is a book and a cat. Enjoy! 🙂

I don’t like a ton of sprints on my spin class either. They’re better for that last-song, pre-cooldown period. As for the game, my cats like that game too. 😉

Glad I’m not the only one! I guess I don’t see the value in sprinting in a spin class. Outside on a real bike, sprint intervals make sense.
Cats are so weird.

LOL! Before I moved out of my Mom’s, I played this game pretty much every night. Except I played it with two cats who appear to hate each other. One would be on the book and the other would be a foot away, growling at the other one. I was always afraid they’d get into a fight on top of me when I was trying to read!

Haha! I bet that was amusing!

I play that game with my cat ALL the time… esp. when I’m studying!
Lori
Haha – we play that same game, only it is called “Mommy Tries to Work” 😀
What can we say, suckers for kitties…
Lisa Eirene
I am most definitely a sucker for kitties!

My cat does that too! She ignores me allllll day, as soon as I get a book out, she’s all up in my business! Cats!!
Lisa Eirene
Isn’t how it always goes? They sleep all day, ignore us, and then when we are about to eat dinner or read a book they are suddenly curious.

Oh Lisa, I laughed out loud at this. Fat kitty looks very much like our Raleigh, who we lost two years ago yesterday. I put a couple of pictures of him on my blog yesterday. Awwww. Cats are so wonderful, they give us so much joy. I needed to remind myself of that a little when our Neva climbed our Christmas tree yesterday….but AWWWW! Happy Friday!!!!

Aren’t they the best? I love my little monsters! And your cat was ADORABLE in your pictures. Have a great holiday!
