Friday night Michael and I drove up to Seattle for my annual family Christmas party. We were staying with my good friend Rachel on Friday night to see their new place in Bellevue and hang out.
The boys took a shot before we all headed out for the evening. We went to a piano bar in downtown Bellevue that had dueling pianos.
The fun part about staying in Bellevue was being walking distance from the bar. We got a table inside the packed bar and ordered a round of drinks. The two pianists sat across from each other and played all requests–some with the real lyrics and some made up by them.
It was such a fun night! The guys couldn’t be stumped–they played everything. They even played some of our requests too (we were impressed they were able to play Voodoo Child on the piano).
It was a late night but we only stayed for one round of drinks before heading back to Rachel’s place for the night. I had to get up early the next morning to hit the gym before we headed to the family party.
Rachel’s condo was really nice and there were two fitness rooms! Rachel kept me company while I did my cardio on the elliptical first.
After spending about45 minutes or so on the elliptical we moved over to the weight room. It was a really nice space and wasn’t crowded either.
I loved working out and having the whole room to myself! It was a good workout and even better because I had Rachel to chat with to pass the time.
I think I burned more calories on the cardio machine this time because I was chatting with Rachel and didn’t notice how hard I was pushing it.

I was really happy to get my workout out of the way first thing because I knew there would be a lot of food in my future at the party. Michael and I got cleaned up and packed and then the four of us grabbed breakfast before we hit the road.
We went to the Palomino in downtown Bellevue for breakfast. I ordered the veggie frittata and it came with potatoes. I wish I knew how the potatoes were prepared because they were extraordinary. The frittata was just okay–a little on the plain side.
I had a blast with my friends. It was so good to see their new place and hang out. I’m a bit jealous of their fitness centers in the condo. I would LOVE to have a gym like that available to me any time I wanted!
We said our goodbyes and Michael and I headed north to my parent’s house.
QUESTION: Have you ever seen a dueling piano act before?
Beth @ Beth's Journey
I actually went to a dueling piano bar for the first time this past July in Boston. A friend of mine had her bachelorette party at one and I’d never heard of or seen one before. It was AWESOME. I loved it!

I had never seen it done before either and it was so much fun! I wish there was one here in Portland.
Jill
I have seen dueling pianos before! I LOVE it! It was on a cruise- I wish there was somewhere local to go!!!
Lisa Eirene
I bet it was a lot of fun on the cruise!

Sounds like a great weekend! I’ve seen dueling pianos before, but it was a long time ago. I remember it being pretty fun.
Lisa Eirene
I’m just surprised they played our requests! That was fun. 🙂
Lisa
What a fun event!

Dueling pianos are fun!!
Your friend’s kitchen (I think) cabinets are cool! Is that an adhesive or were they made that way? I’ve never seen anything like them.
What happened with your HRM after your green one died? I see you are wearing a different one. So, so sorry to hear about your experience trying to get the battery replaced!
Lisa Eirene
She hired an artist to draw the murals in the kitchen. I’m not sure if they were painted on, or attached?
The HRM is dead and the guy is sending me a replacement. In the meantime Michael KINDLY let me borrow his for my workout! He’s so sweet. We just changed the settings to mine so I could use it for a few days.

Hi Lisa. Looks like a great weekend. I have never seen duelling pianos before, but next time we’re south of the border in Bellevue, we’ll search this place out. (Seatle/Bellevue are so fun!) Hope you have a great week!
Lisa Eirene
That place is worth a visit if you are driving through. 🙂

Ok. You have to stop this. You can’t keep coming up here and NOT call me for coffee at least. I’m officially throwing a temper tantrum.
Lisa Eirene
Oh I know! I’m annoyed too. My mom told me that it was ESSENTIAL we get to their house early so we could take the noon ferry and get to the party ASAP. We bust our butts to get there and apparently the plan had changed and we had a few hours to kill. I was so annoyed! We totally could have met up somewhere but I was kind of captive to my parents. DM me your phone # and I’ll give you mine. Next time I’ll escape!
