This week has been all kinds of weird. Phantom injuries. Tapering. Family visiting from out of town. And most bizarre: just feeling off because I wasn’t doing my “normal” workout routine. Tuesday I did yoga — without my yoga buddy Robyn–and that felt weird (but it did wonders!).
I swam on Wednesday after work (which felt great) instead of Friday–which is the weirdest for me. I always feel off when I don’t swim on Friday nights. And Thursday I ran/walked instead of taking a Rest Day like I often do. One thing we did try to do, was still eat healthy on the nights were were home. For example, after a long evening at car dealerships on Thursday we made salmon for dinner. After eating out two days in a row it was nice to eat at home. I minced fresh garlic and topped the salmon with basil from the garden, put sliced tomato on it and baked it.
Michael tried to recreate the amazing green beans we had at Toast on Wednesday night. We need more practice. 🙂
Friday night after work I drove home. Instead of the pool. WEIRD. I knew I needed the rest day for Sunday but I missed my Friday night swim. Other things I miss? Weight lifting. I haven’t had a proper weight lifting session in weeks. Once the Portland Century is over I’m looking forward to going back to weight lifting.
Michael and I had more car shopping to do. Michael’s looking to eventually swap his car for something else so we’ve been testing out cars we like. So far we’ve both liked Subaru Outback and the Honda CRV. Anyone have one of those? Likes/dislikes/thoughts? Friday night we checked out the Ford dealership. I have a Ford Focus and love my car. It’s the best little car! Dinner was late and in the middle of nowhere (aka Tualatin 🙂 ).
That’s what happens when you don’t meal plan or go proper grocery shopping for weeks! Juan Colorado was a cute little restaurant with an enclosed balcony.
I ordered the enchilada and taco combo but only ate the enchilada. I’ve been craving Mexican food for weeks so it definitely satisfied that craving.
It was a LOT of food. I took the leftovers to my friend Star as a thank you for letting me borrow her mini camera for the Portland Century. I’m getting excited about Sunday!
QUESTION: Can you adapt to changes in routine easily?
Jane Cartelli
If you mean my physical routine: Too easily. After a two days I start to like my down time until about a week and then I am aching to move.
If you mean daily routine: I am not a happy camper when the unexpected gets in the way: illness, unexpected company, changes in plans.
Wishing you well for your upcoming race. I am Amazed by your workout routine! 🙂

Jane, I’m the same way. I wish I could be more easy going and “fly by the seat of my pants” but I get grumpy when my normal routine is ruined!
Karen@WaistingTime
I am so not spontaneous or flexible. I like my routine!!!! Our cars are 10 and 11 years old. I suspect our next one will be a hybrid.
Lisa Eirene
I’m with you Karen! I like my routine! And I’m not that flexible. I am trying really hard to be better at that though.
Lori
I am actually pretty flexible. I do like my routines, but as long as I get in the exercise – I don’t necessarily care which type it is.
Have a great ride!
Lisa Eirene
Yes–as long as I can get in the exercise, I’m usually okay with whatever it is.
Thanks Lori! I’m excited about tomorrow.

Hi Lisa!
I have been reading your blog for a few months, and thought I’d finally de-lurk to say hi! I live in Lake Oswego, and we have a love for eating and running in common! 🙂
Anyway, I wanted to recommend the Honda CR-V as a GREAT car. My husband and I were in a really bad car accident back in 2009, and with our settlement we decided to purchase 2 very safe cars to replace our small cars that were 10 years old. He got his CR-V first, in 2009. In 2010, when it was time to replace my car, I couldn’t find anything I liked as much as the CR-V, so I got one too! It’s kind of weird with both of us having the same car, but oh well – it works for us! I think there is even a hybrid version available now that wasn’t when we were looking.
Best of luck on your big ride!

Hello fellow Oregonian! Thanks for the vote for the CRV. It’s a really hard decision because all three cars are excellent and priced about the same.
