Monday was a Rest Day for me–I needed it. My left calf felt tight and it’s been bothering me for about a week now. My hope is that rest and maybe some yoga will improve that.
When I got home from work I dyed my hair and then Michael and I went out to dinner before seeing a movie. We went to Panera. It was conveniently near the theatre and they have tons of low calorie options.
There are so many things I can order at Panera. And they post the calorie count on the menu board. I ordered the soup/half sandwich combo. I got the French Onion soup:
And for my half sandwich I ordered the Veggie Mediterranean sandwich: Zesty peppers, feta cheese, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cilantro Jalapeño hummus on Tomato Basil bread.
The sandwich was kind of…weird. The tomato basil bread was really sweet. I wasn’t expecting that. There wasn’t much feta or hummus on it either. But it was an okay sandwich.
The French Onion soup is decent. It’s nothing compared to the best French Onion Soup I’ve ever had. Dinner was about 650 calories. I like that number!
We sat outside in the bistro area and tried to enjoy the very little sunshine we had. Poor Michael–wearing a huge sweatshirt in the middle of July! Ridiculous weather.
After dinner we went to see “Super 8.” I won’t give anything away. But I will say a few things: I enjoyed the movie a lot, even though the ending kind of fell short of the build-up.
Michael said the movie is kind of a cross between ET and Stand By Me (both excellent movies from my childhood). But I felt like it was more a cross between The Goonies and Stand By Me. The Goonies is a great movie! And it was filmed in Astoria, Oregon.
The movie is worth a theatre viewing. I think the effects would be lost seeing it at home. There were two previews for upcoming summer movies I’m looking forward to as well. The first is Captain America. I am slowly starting to really enjoy the comic book movies. The second movie is Cowboys and Aliens–could be totally awesome or a total cheese-fest of awfulness.
QUESTION: What did you think of Super 8 (no spoilers)? What summer movie are you looking forward to seeing?

I loved that movie! It was really sweet and not at all what I expected. I can see what you mean about the end- my boyfriend felt the same way, he liked the movie but felt like it could have been better at the end. I liked the ending though- to me it was very reminiscent of the 80’s childhood americana movies it was trying to emulate. But I can definetly see what you mean 🙂

It was sweet and the kids were all likeable and good actors. We both felt like there was a lot of build up throughout the movie to kind of a “Blah” ending. But I agree, it reminded me of the movies I used to watch as a kid.

This was a decent movie, although I didn’t like the very end where the boy had to release that special object. It made me sad.

That made me sad too. But I guess it was symbolic for letting her go…

I haven’t seen that movie yet – but I want to! Oddly enough there haven’t been any movies this summer I’ve been dying to see. I am looking forward to the next Twilight movie in November though. I’ve just been checking out random movies at our local budget cinema. Much better to pay $3 than $10!
By the way – send some of that sweatshirt weather my way. It’s supposed to set record highs today with heat indexes around 115!
Lisa Eirene
Where the heck do you live that it’s 115?!?!? While I hate the rain and cold, I don’t like 115!
