Long weekends are for fun. A time to recharge. It helps when the weather cooperates. Friday night I had a relaxing swim and then Michael and I chilled watching the last few episodes of “The Killing.” I thought it was a good show. It was slow moving in parts but it kept me interested. A lot of people didn’t like the finale but I liked it a lot! It was thought-provoking.
Saturday was a great day. I started it off with a butt-kicking in the gym. I would have preferred to run outside but I wanted to get in a good weight lifting session, so the treadmill it was. 4 miles and a couple dozen squats later, I was worn out:
The rest of Saturday afternoon was for chores like yard work. It wasn’t that bad though because the sun was out and it felt nice to be outside. Then we had some friends over for a pizza party.
I’m glad the pizzas turned out so great and that we were able to eat outside on the deck. It was a nice night, with a warm breeze and the occasional sound of fireworks. They brought Michael and I bottle of wine as a gift, which I’m really looking forward to trying! I forgot to ask if it was from her recent trip to France:
They also brought dessert. Vanilla Bean ice cream with my chocolate fudge and their caramel sauce: perfect for a warm night.
The weekend wasn’t all go-go-go. Sunday morning I slept in and snuggled with this guy:
He’s good at cuddles. Fat Kitty is a purring machine and that lulled me back to sleep for a bit longer. I skipped the pool on Sunday morning to go for a long bike ride with Michael.
QUESTION: How is your long weekend so far?
Lisa
We’ve used the long weekend to get started on a yard project. For the past 2 days we have dug up the flower bed along the front of our house. After 25 years of re-applying mulch as needed, the flower bed was becoming a mountain and the boxwoods were huge and not nicely shaped any more. The plants are now gone and a never-pruned cedar tree has been chopped down. The tiller has been run through the bed and we are off to get supplies. It’s terribly hot and humid here, even early in the morning, so we quit work at 1pm. Tomorrow I will work on cutting down a trio of out of control creeping jasmine!

The yard work never ends!

Your weekend sounds nice and relaxing (except for the butt kicking in the gym) Sometimes it is nice to just hang out and relax. That is what we are doing this weekend. My husband and I went on a bike ride together- something we don’t get to do often. It was really nice. We will have a nice dinner home and then a movie with some cuddling. I love long weekends!!
Lisa Eirene
Nice job on the bike ride!
Lori
Weekend is going great so far, other than having our long ride postponed because of rain – but that is what a Monday off is for 😀
Kitties are the best snugglers.

I hope it didn’t rain for the 4th and you were able to ride. It was GORGEOUS in Oregon all weekend!

whoa, jealous of your icecream! Looks GOOD! Do you have free weights at home to come back to if you want to do your run outside?
Lisa Eirene
I do have some free weights here at the house, so that is an option when I want to run too.

We went to a German Tennis Tournament. The night before they had a little get together at the courts for others to practice and non-club members to try it out. There was a pizza oven and the pizza was amazing! Sunday was the tournament (the Hub took part) lots of yummy salad, and homemade German cakes (may have had a bit too much)! I went home halfway through for the young one to take a nap and I ran 2 miles on the treadmill, then we were back up for the rest of the night! Monday, Eric got called to do work, so the boys and I hung out here, relaxed, enjoyed the sunshine and that was about it! That icecream is looking pretty tempting. I am going to make some banana soft serve and use my ‘yet to be opened’ Wax Orchards Orange Chocolate Syrup!!! Mmmmm!!
Lisa Eirene
I think it would be hard to pass up all that yummy sounding food! Sounds like a great weekend to me.
