My weekend was nice. I took a little blogging break and just enjoyed hanging out with Michael and some friends. Friday night Michael and I saw Hangover 2. It was just okay in my opinion. The first movie was so hilarious and I loved it, the sequel had a lot to live up to. I honestly thought Bridesmaids was a better movie than Hangover 2. It was still a fun night, though.
Saturday I had kind of a crappy workout at the gym. My knee was bothering me a lot and I just felt like I was losing steam. I moved from the treadmill to the elliptical for a lackluster experience where I was just burning calories and not enjoying any of it. I turned it around though by finally trying the bench press where you lay down! I had been so intimated to try it, I avoided it. It was fun! But hard to keep the bar balanced. I wonder what the secret to that is?
I accomplished a lot in our backyard garden too. I cleared out a huge section of weeds, moss, crab grass and just junky grass near our raised beds. In the future it will be the home of more raised beds but for now we’ll need to cover it with anti-weed tarp and bark I think. This sections looks pretty awesome so far, but I have a LOT to do still…as in, an entire half of the yard…But progress is progress!
Working in the yard was back breaking work but necessary. I knew I was going to be sore from the combination of weight lifting and hoe-ing. 😉
On Monday morning I met a friend over at LA Fitness to give her a swimming lesson!
It’s weird–I feel like I’ve “known” Ember for years. We were at all the same parties and all the same festivals/camping events yet our circle of friends rarely overlapped. We’ve been Facebook friends for years now and finally met in person! I was happy to help her at the pool. I hope the tips I gave her will give her the confidence and skill to be able to rock the triathlon she’s doing in July! 🙂
Michael and I took a little trip to the Outlet mall. I got a new cycling jersey (on clearance!) that should work well this summer:
And of course a little something “fun” for me:
RED SHOES!!! I finally found some sexy red heels. Yay! And finally, to get into the holiday spirit, despite the dismal weather most of the weekend in Portland, we did some grilling too:
All in all it was a good weekend with lots of fitness, downtime, chores, and fun things with friends. I’m happy with my holiday!
QUESTION: What was the highlight of your weekend?

I spent the weekend being generally lazy with my 12-day old nephew 🙂
You should teach me how to swim! I mean, I know how to swim, but I don’t know how to swim, swim, if you catch my drift.

Lazy is sometimes very needed!
I need to start a business giving swimming lessons! 🙂

The highlights of the weekend for me were definitely unplugging, laying out by the pool, and grilling!

It’s definitely nice to unplug once in awhile! I did too and it was very much needed.
