My swim on Friday night was good: despite one thing breaking. My swim cap tore in half. It was just after I started swimming. I found a groove and felt energized and enthusiastic. The cap was slipping a little (it was honestly old and worn out) so I tried to adjust it and it ripped. I hate having to stop my swim to deal with stuff like that. I went through it a lot when I was searching for the perfect goggles that wouldn’t leak and had to stop, get out and go back to my locker to get another pair.
Without even thinking about it, I put my hands on the ledge of the pool and hoisted myself out of the water and onto the ledge. This may not seem like a big deal but as a BIG GIRL I could NEVER EVER do this. I was never strong enough, I was always too heavy to do it. So to get out of the pool I always swam under water to the nearest stairs or ladder. I still do that. To this day. It’s funny how you just assume you can’t do something because you never were able to before. Mid-hoist I thought, “Holy crap! That was really easy!” I was so surprised and totally stoked. Funny how something so trivial can make me happy. 🙂
I had a great swim and then went home for dinner, famished. My hummus and baby carrots pre-swim did NOT work for me. The second I got in the pool my stomach was growling and I was anxious to get home to eat.
I made Michael and me salads. Lettuce mix, half an avocado, broccoli, cauliflower, celery and carrots and carbs croutons for me.
Michael grilled up the pork chops for us and since he is burned out on eating beans, he skipped the beans. I had some because it sounded good to me.
The pork chop was huge, probably a serving and a half but I was famished! I stayed up late watching Law and Order SVU (the last few episodes have been crazy!) and then crashed. It was a really long week and it finally caught up to me about 10pm.
SATURDAY
I woke up earlier than I wanted to Fat Kitty prancing around on my full bladder. Thanks, kitty. So much for sleeping in!
Had a pre-workout breakfast of 2 fried eggs and half a Sandwich Thin toasted with cream cheese (we don’t have bagels). At the gym I rocked out 3.65 miles on the treadmill at a consistently fast speed (for me) with some occasional inclines of 2.0-2.5 just like last time.
I could have gone longer but I had too much to do after the gym. Then I pushed myself to the limits on the weights. I am loving the weight machines with the plates. It’s so much better than the “easy” weight machines I’ve been using. I use those because they are easy and no-brainers.
But when I use those I’m really just cheating myself out of a GOOD workout because I don’t push myself as hard as I should. I definitely feel like I get a better workout using the plated machines.
After weight lifting I did some rowing with the weights on this:
I’m trying to balance all of my chest press workouts with back workouts too. Then finished up with tons of stretching, Foam Rolling and hip exercises.

On the way home from the gym I stopped at Lowe’s and bought a bunch of things to plant! More on that later.
QUESTION: Is there something you tell yourself you CAN’T do because you couldn’t before? What’s keeping you from trying again?
