      It was! I had a great time. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow….. 😉

looks like fun!! I’m just getting back into lifting (I used to coach special olympics) and I am LOVING it! an all over workout like that looks like FUN to me! maybe I should check him out! 🙂

also? the bar itself is 45 lbs! each large plate is also 45 lbs, so he’s over 200 lbs there – I can’t tell if he has 2 plates on each or more…

you could totally do the bar! I used to to one plate each side… 🙂

…wow, that sounded like I was bragging… I could do that after A LOT of work. 😀

      1. Lisa Eirene

Brag away! I think it’s awesome!

You might be right on Christian’s weights. 2 plates on both sides but not sure how heavy they were. Would you want to go with me sometime? I’m thinking of getting a few friends together to do a session with Christian.

        I WOULD LOVE TO !!

give me a little bit more time to get back into a lifting routine… I just started, and I’m still ramping up my running + endurance… but YES… I would LOVE to!!

That’s fantastic! Fun times! Let’s chat in about a month and see where you’re at. I’ll probably go once a month on a Saturday. I’m PRETTY sore today. Ouch!

WAY TO GO! My ramp up to Crossfit class was a lot like this and really showed me how out of shape I’ve let myself get. I seriously thought I was gonna puke and faint (plus I do not run at all). I’m glad it was challenging for you but that you did so well!

    1. Lisa Eirene

I didn’t feel faint or like I was going to puke but I did feel like my legs were gonna give out!! But when you’re in Portland we should go!

  4. Sheri

I’ve been going back and forth about trying Crossfit – it looks like it would be really hard, but fun at the same time! 🙂 Where is your friend’s gym?

  5. Dan

I’m glad you had a positive session at our gym, Lisa!

You must be Christian’s partner! I had a wonderful experience at the gym and plan on returning every once in awhile. I’m hoping I can recruit some other Portlanders and friends to check it out with me.

I’ve been going to strength fit for some time now. I absolutely love Christian and Dan. They are great. I go there even though I live on the Westside and there are other cross fit gyms closer to my house. I hope to see you some day!

I live in Milwaukie and it was kind of a trek to the airport but I had such a good time the drive is totally worth it! Hope to see you too.

Wow- it looks like you had a really great workout. Hard to rationalize going somewhere else when you’ve paid for a gym…

    1. Lisa Eirene

Christian is a good friend though and I’d be willing to pay the drop-in fee once a month or so. It’s okay to spend the money for essentially a personal training session!

  8. marie

Wow, that looks so fun! And the gym looks cool too – very industrial. I took a class once that featured a circuit of different boxing moves, cardio, weight-lifting and plyometrics – it really kicked my ass!

    1. Lisa Eirene

      It’s day 3 and I’m still sore!

I LOVE crossfit!! It looks like you had fun too!

It is more expensive than just a gym membership, but much cheaper than a personal trainer. I cancelled both my gym memberships for crossfit and outside running. Lifting the big weights was intimidating at first, but it makes me feel strong. My daughter has started coming with me and I am so proud to see her finish these work outs. She asked if she could give up tennis for the summer so we could afford crossfit for her monthly. Sometimes its scarey because you never know what they have planned for the WOD. I love doing actual pull-ups with the bands.

    1. Lisa Eirene

That’s so cool that you do it full time now. Yes–it’s way better than a traditional gym membership but I can’t give up my pool–that’s the only thing.

My session this weekend was much like the personal training sessions I used to have with Christian and it was fun to do them in a small class-environment. Everyone went at their own pace and ability but we all rocked it. And I just realized this morning that I did 60 pullups with that band on Saturday! 60!! Holy cow!
