Today was an immensely stressful day at work. I can’t go into details but let’s just say I left the office feeling like I’d been run over by a truck and had NO desire to work out or really do anything. So what did I do? I went to the grocery store at 5:30pm. 😛 Yeah, smart, I know. But it wasn’t too bad. I’ve been seriously craving waffles for over a month now. The culprit? Watching 10 minutes of “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” where he challenged a waffle maker. SIGH those delicious, dessert-like, heavenly pieces of art have been taunting my brain ever since. I decided I’d go to the store to see what kind of frozen waffles might compare.
When I walked in, I was immediately distracted.
Strawberries were 2 for $3! An awesome price and I’ve also been craving strawberries like mad lately too. I got two packs of strawberries, picked up some asparagus and broccoli, then wandered into the organic section to check out the frozen waffles. Kelly over at http://myhealthypassion.wordpress.com/ tweeted her love for Van’s. I immediately found them. They looked pretty good and I almost bought them but I decided my craving couldn’t be satisfied with frozen waffles. I really do need to get them at a restaurant. (When I got home, Michael and I agreed we’d get waffles at a restaurant tomorrow night.)
One of the things I love most about summer time are the fresh berries. I could seriously eat an entire vat of strawberries for dinner and be A-Okay. 🙂 In the Mark-Down bin, I found 2 bottles of Clif Energy Drink. I had never heard of it before but I got two for us to try this weekend.
Earlier in the day, I walked to Whole Foods to decompress from work and I found two new things (new to me). The first is a different kind of quinoa–Inca Red! I bought a box to try.
I also got a can of Coconut Juice. I’ve never tried that before either. I’m not sure yet when I’m going to drink it, or if I’m going to add it to something. Does anyone else have experience with it? Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
For dinner we made the Inca Red Quinoa. The box said it took 15 minutes but they lied–it was more like 25 minutes. 🙁 So we kind of ate it after the rest of the food. I made a salad with baby spinach, romaine lettuce, chickpeas, carrots, walnuts, Craisins and a little balsamic and oil.
Michael blackened the rest of the chicken I got at Trader Joe’s on Sunday. We were done eating and I checked the quinoa and it was finally ready. 🙁 But we ate it anyways. It was delicious too.
I added some more chickpeas to my quinoa. We watched “Lost”, “Breaking Bad” and now we’re watching the UFC. The second I sat down, my kitty jumped into my lap and started purring. As you can tell, he’s clearly starved for attention. 😉
I think dessert for tonight is going to be strawberries. 🙂 Goodnight!
QUESTION: What is your favorite time of year and why? And do you have pets?

Aren’t cats just the best 🙂 I have two and they never fail to brighten up my day. One of them like to climb up my back and meow in my ear if I am typing and she wants attention! Talk about needy 🙂 But oh so cute !

Aw! That is too cute! My kitty jumps into my lap if I’m at the computer. Love ’em!

I was also distracted by cheap strawberries at the market yesterday! I put them in margs last night and am about to have some on my cereal this morning 🙂
My cats compete with the laptop for my attention all of the time. The second I pull out the computer they are suddenly lap cats!

I love spring and fall equally. The cherry blossoms in DC are incredible in the spring, and I love the changing colors of the fall. No pets for me!

Spring and Fall are my favorites too. (Minus the allergies in Springtime!)

Thanks for visiting my blog and your swim comments.
We had strawberry sales here 3 weeks ago as the growers up north in Plant City were flooding our markets with cheap strawberries. I made some jam with a flat.
Here in SW Florida we have 300 days of summer and since I love summer I moved here!

I need to seriously consider moving to Florida. 😉 I am severely Vitamin D deficient!!

I love spring and summer. Winters are terrible in WV but spring is beautiful!
I have a cat that looks a lot like yours and two dogs.

I am a strawberry hound for most of the year until blueberry season comes along. Then I need an intervention…..
My favorite season is fall. I love the colors and the crispness in the air (mostly because I am tired of heat and humidity). It’s also the time I met my husband, and we consider fall to be our time 😀
