What a good workout at the gym this morning…I love it when all the pieces fall into place, there’s no weird aches, it’s not a struggle. I hopped on the treadmill and had to increase the level higher than my normal speed for warming up because it was just too easy. I think that’s a sign of healing for my knee. My heart rate was also staying in the high 130’s. That was a far cry from Wednesday night’s awful run through quicksand where my heart rate stayed in the 160’s the whole time.
I had some good music going, I was watching The Travel Channel’s special on Yosemite and I lost myself in the run. Before I knew it I’d run almost 3 miles! I’ve been sticking at 3 miles only for the last 2 months because I was having ITB flare ups whenever I went to 3.5 miles. I figured it was better to be safe than sorry so I just hovered at 3 miles. Today I did not want to stop running! My legs wanted to keep going. So I did.
3.25!! And I wanted to keep going. I COULD have kept going. I thought, “Will I regret it tomorrow if I don’t call it quits now?” The answer: I might. I’m not sure. I did the responsible thing and stopped running. I headed down to the weights and did a focused, determined session with lots of work on the Gravitron.
I did too man Chin Ups and Triceps Dips to count. My heart rate was high but it felt good. I also noticed that I had to increase the weights on several of my usual machines. I ended my workout with ab work, stretching and hip exercises.
Feeling like a million bucks today.

When I got home I made Michael and me lunch. Chunky Organic Tomato Soup with half a cup of elbow pasta added to it. I also used about 1/4 or 1/2 cup of Heavy Whipping Cream that I had leftover from last week’s chicken dinner.
Yes, those are a few Cheese-its in a bowl as my side. π The soup was delicious. The pasta made it heartier (the soup was only 110 calories per serving before I added the other ingredients) which is good because I’ll be famished in 2 hours. I put a dollop of sour cream on top although it wasn’t really needed because of the cream already in the soup. This is something that my friend Star used to make from scratch (like totally from scratch) in the winter time. It’s a wonderful winter dinner.
Lunch was less than 500 calories and very filling. Now onto the craziness of Meal Planning, errand running, grocery shopping, cleaning! I hope I’m not too sore tomorrow. Have a great Saturday!
QUESTION: What’s your favorite hearty soup?
Lori Lynn
Congrats on the workout! I like a good vegetable beef stew. π
Lisa Eirene
I’ve never tried to make my own vegetable beef stew but I’d like to.

You look amazing. You’re so committed, truly admirable. You never seem to back off! I hope your running injury is healed. Why does your heart rate get so high? Well it’s good that it was down. You’re doing it all right girlfriend.
Lisa Eirene
I push myself hard at the gym! What’s the point of going to the gym if our heart rates don’t get up? π
Thanks! I seem to be healing. Yay!
Suzanne @WorkoutNirvana
Haha! I thought you said it was too high (160). You’re right, it should be high!
Lisa Eirene
Oh yeah! Wednesday’s workout was too high the whole time. It was a weird fluke…
Valerie Furnas
You look amazing! I love days like that at the gym!
Lisa Eirene
Thanks Valerie! It was a great workout.

You’re like my long lost (paternal) twin sister, I sorta had the same experience at the gym yesterday. My test run. I was pretty sure I’d regret it. So far A-OK. But, it’s still early π
Glad you had an awesome run! It’s about time me & you get healed!
Lisa Eirene
Think positive! I’m sure you won’t regret your test run. π
So far I don’t regret mine!

The look of that soup makes me think of queso dip. It looks delicious! I have a few favorite soups. I make my own chicken soup from scratch. It has a lot of thick chunks of chicken and vegetables. It’s also super easy to make. I also love to eat chili. Does that count? I had a bowl of that the other night. Super great for this chest bug that’s been kicking my rear end.

There’s been something nasty going around lately. I caught, it several friends and coworkers got it too. Get well!
I love chili. I’d say that counts. π
