My husband and I died laughing at that clip when we first saw it. We still refer to it! But . . . hey, if it’s what you have to do these days, then so be it. 🙂
Yup, I’ve seen that clip before and as a fellow Northwesterner I guess I’m not too far off from that (though I don’t eat chickens, maybe that’s even more Portlandia). I pick up eggs from the farm and I do care that the chickens get to run around and forage.
We’ve talked about getting chickens for years. Neither Michael nor I would be able to “take care” of them if they got sick (i.e. kill them). So that’s kind of kept us from doing it.
Soooooo funny. I especially loved the waitress. The photo of the chicken. Hilarious. I’m with you on the chicken thighs. I don’t do chicken breasts so much any more. When I do a whole chicken- yes.
Thighs or stir fries and chicken dishes- I’ve been buying organic thighs at Costco. I get the heebie-jeebies thinking about the name of the chicken(s). I give thanks to good mother earth and farmers before I eat.
I have a hard time with eating meat and trying not to think that it used to be an animal. That’s the part I struggle with most. I was a vegetarian for over a decade. Sometimes it’s hard to turn that off in your brain.

“His name was Colin.”
Ha! That’s pretty damn hilarious! And I’m not even a Portlander, but they could’ve called it “Burlingtonia,” because it’s exactly the same here.
Cheers!

Ha! That’s awesome.

I’ve been loving chicken recipes a lot lately too! too bad the bf only wants beef haha

Chicken thighs are my favorite. Everything else and I feel like chicken is boring.

You’re lucky Portlandia is not like Swamplandia!
Lisa Eirene
Oooof! No thanks! My brother lives in Philly. He says it’s a swamp there.
