Oh yes, you read that correctly. Bottomless Mimosas. Thankfully I am not able to partake in “bottomless” oy vey. I did over-indulge though.
On Sunday morning I woke up a little earlier than normal, had some oatmeal and went to the pool to get in my swim. I had a good swim and enjoyed having the pool pretty much to myself. I felt a little sore from yesterday’s workout too.
After that I met my good friend Erika at Madison’s Grill for brunch. I’ve been there a few times before and one of those times was for Erika’s wedding reception. The food is good and I’ve never had a bad experience there. I wasn’t expecting it to be so crowded on a Sunday morning. We got there and there was about a 30 minute wait; the place was packed. I think the reason it was co crowded was the “Bottomless Mimosa” offered on their brunch menu. ๐
We finally got seated and after much internal debate (because I was starving and everything looked good) I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich.
A sandwich with scrambled egg, sausage, caramelized onion and Havarti cheese. Oh. My. God. This sandwich will live on in my memory and make my mouth water. It was awesome. The caramelized onion made me think of French Onion Soup. It was delicious!
My sandwich came with a bowl of fresh fruit. I ate every last morsel on my plate and loved every second of it.
And of course, we got Mimosas.
I cannot remember the last time I’ve had a Mimosa. It has to have been at least 6+ years. I honestly had no idea it would arrive in a pint glass either. I had imagined it would be in a champagne flute. So imagine my surprise at the idea of drinking all of it! Of course I was hungry, and having a great time with my friend so the drink went down easily.
Erika ordered the blueberry pancakes and she kindly let me have a few bites. It was pretty amazing! I think if I had ordered the pancakes I’d be in a carb coma the rest of the day.
They were also HUGE! When the menu said “2 pancakes” we both thought “two is a good size–not too much”. Haha jokes on us! Okay I had one more Mimosa. In my defense when am I ever going to have a Mimosa again? AND we were at the restaurant for over 3 hours.
No more Bottomless! We had a great time chatting and catching up. It was a nice way to spend a lazy Sunday. Since I don’t normally drink in the middle of the day the Mimosas kinda knocked me on my butt. I see a nap in my near future. ๐
I had a weekend of over-indulging in every possible way. I’m a bit disappointed with myself and my lack of willpower. I know that I don’t need to go over my calories every day of a weekend. Could I have said no to a lot of the things I indulged in? Yes. For sure. Did I do it anyway? Yep. But there’s nothing achieved by beating myself up over slip-ups. Working out more isn’tย the answer. Denying myself ALL treats isn’t the answer. Tomorrow is a new day. A new day for healthier choices.
QUESTION: Are you a brunch person? How about Mimosas?
Kelly
I can not remember the last time I had a mimosa. Bottomless sounds wonderful (and a little dangerous).
Good food, good friends, good drinks. Awesome day.

I think one would have been sufficient. But as soon as the word “Bottomless” or “unlimited” or “buffet” is uttered I feel like I need to eat/drink enough to make it worth it. If that makes sense. Silly, I know.

Bottomless mimosas? I’m going to have to check that out!

It’s over on like SE 11th and Hawthorne. Good place!

We used to live by Madison’s. YUM! I like Mimosas… on occasion. We usually partake on Mothers Day or Easter…and that is often enough for me ๐

“But thereโs nothing achieved by beating myself up over slip-ups.” You said it, sister!
I’m adjusting my Points instead of beating myself up because it is an equation that we have control over. It’s January, it’s cold and dreary, but you’re still doing an awesome job getting to the gym. I think this is the hardest time of the year to eat “lite.”
Have an awesome week!

Yeah I think winter, hormones and laziness are making me eat more. But you are right–I have control over what I eat. Tomorrow will be better.

I adore both brunch and Mimosas! My sister would seriously die if she saw that there is a place that gives you bottomless Mimosas. Literally, she would drink herself to death lol.

2 drinks is kinda my limit. I think I had the equivalent of 4 mimosas. OY!!
