Buttercream Icing Recipe
3 cups confectioner’s sugar
1/3 cup butter
1-2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine all ingredients and mix until smooth. If icing is a little runny add more sugar. If it’s too thick add more milk.
I sent a message out to the Twitter Universe last week asking for a sugar cookie icing recipe and “Coco” sent me this recipe:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons water or lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
Mix together and then add food coloring.
The lemon icing was really delicious. I added food coloring to each batch. Let the cookie decorating begin!

That’s the same way I make icing for sugar cookies – so easy! Plus I subbed in eggnog for milk/water and made it ‘nog style for my last batch.

Oooh! What a brilliant idea! I like the eggnog idea. We made one batch of icing with spiced rum and that was pretty good. Not overpowering.

I made this exact frosting last night but had no cookies to put it on. I had a hankering…but our oven is broken.
I just mixed some up in a coffee cup and I ate it with a spoon. It was a very small batch š

That looks similar to one I use. My kids love decorated cookies.

That icing is a gorgeous shade of purple! I always use a powdered sugar/butter/vanilla blend for my sugar cookies…it’s a classic!

This was my first time! And I’m really happy with the way it all turned out.
