Do you prefer to workout with a buddy or by yourself?
I’m usually a solo workout person. I am a pretty focused person when I workout and I kind of do my own thing. Michael and I hike and bike together. I have a few friends who I sometimes workout with.
I’ve run the waterfront with a coworker once before. He wasn’t a runner but wanted to start. He was much faster than me so I pushed myself harder and I was pretty sore the next day. Another co-worker of mine mentioned running together too. I haven’t said yes yet because she a really good runner and I think she’d put me to shame!
The plus sides to having a buddy are many. It helps change up routines. Keeps you motivated. Makes you accountable.
QUESTION: How do you fuel your workouts?
Peanut butter is a good pre-workout fuel for me. Michael recently bought a special powder to mix with water.
Here are the Nutrition Stats:
He loves it. He said he notices a difference in his energy level and recovery time as a result of this drink. I’ve tried it twice and dislike the flavor so much I can’t drink it. It tasted like Tang to me. Ick!
Does anyone have any other recommendations? I’m looking for something I can use on Reach The Beach next month.
I ran at lunch today. It was a great run. I decided to forgo the jacket but wondered if I would regret it once I got outside. It was a tad chilly! I was lucky, however, and once I started running it was the right temperature. The weather was perfect and I didn’t need my jacket. I ran the entire loop without walking at all.
Today’s lunch was 2 slices of leftover deLite pizza from the other night. I was NOT in the mood to pack a lunch last night.
Here’s today’s eats:
Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, 1 piece of toast, coffee
Snack: Banana
Lunch: 2 pieces of pizza, Fiber One bar
Snack: Apple
Dinner: ?
QUESTION: So what do you prefer? A workout buddy? Or do you do it solo?
Ashley
What is deLite pizza? It looks deeeeelicious!
I prefer to run with a partner because it is easy enough just to quit if I’m solo. But if I’m at the gym, I have my routine and I don’t want someone jabbering at me or getting in my way.

If I am taking a class at the gym, I like having a friend go too. That way I don’t flake out. I like to zone out when I run, so although I have never ran with someone, I think I prefer to go solo.

I zone out too when I run.

If I’m going for a run I like to go solo since it’s hard for me to concentrate if someone else is around. I like to have a buddy to go to classes though or if I’m using free weights.
For workout fuel I usually just have toast or a banana with almond butter if I haven’t eaten recently. My workouts a rarely super long.
Way to go on the run without walk breaks! I can’t wait for that day!

There are a bunch of classes I’d love to try at my gym (kickboxing, spin, yoga, pilates) but they are ALWAYS full.

For me it depends on my mood. Sometimes I love the company, and other times I love running solo with my ‘tunes’ for company! A running buddy can be great for those times where I am lacking a little motivation though.

Have you ever tried the SportsBeans? I use them a lot on long runs and find they’re really easy to eat on the go and give me a burst of energy during the long cardio sessions. And I mostly workout alone. I feel like its hard to find someone of the exact ability you have and i push myself a lot as it is.

I haven’t tried Sports Beans but I will give them a try.

I usually run/workout by myself. I have my own pace and am not very patient with others. I also get frustrated when I can’t keep up! haha Every now and then though, it is nice to have someone to talk to.

I’m the same way.

THATS SO GOOD!! SOOOO NEEDED!! especially after today when I didn’t eat before I ran then barely after…probably wouldn’t have puked in the dr. office today if I did :-/ I was late to run and totally skimped to be on time….next time I’ll take responsibility and be late, ugh.

Yikes! I have to have a snack before running. I get nauseous and dizzy too easily!
